FROM THE SUM
PASTOR ALFRED FRY
GODERICH (RETIRED)
In the book of
Deuteronomy, Chapter 33, we
read of the parting Blessing
of Moses upon the children of
Israel.
Moses reminded them that
op their journey through life:
"As thy days, so shall thy
strength be."
If any of us know of a word
of hope or comfort anywhere
it is our duty to share it with
others. We live in a very
disturbed world and the older
we become the more we are
aware that we should live one
day at a time.
The Word of God as
recorded in John 6, verse 34,
Jesus said, "Take therefore
no thought for the morrow,
sufficient unto the day is the
evil thereof."
Note how the promise runs.
Not as your life is, not as your
years are, but as your days,
so shall your strength be.
God's promise is that
strength will be given us, one
day at a time.
Leave tomorrow with God
until it comes. Live this day
at your best. trusting that
God's help will not fail you.
As for the trials and duties of
tomorrow, however hard and
heavy, believe that ttrength
for that day also will be given
you, when it comes.
Jesus was always trying to
get people to trust the coming
days to His Heavenly Father,
and to live fully worthily and
nobly today. He was against
the practice of adding to the
burdens of today fears and
forebodings for tomorrow.
It was"theiove of Jesus and
His desire to save us un-
necessary pain, that He bids
us remember that, "Suf-
ficient unto the day is the evil
thereof."
As I grow older I am more
convinced that if God The
Father had meant us to carry
on our backs the fears and
anxieties of the coming days,
He would surely have told us
more about them. If we were
meant to bear today what
next week holds, surely we
should have been permitted
to see into next week.
But we cannot. We cannot
see a single second ahead.
God gives us Now, and
tomorrow He keeps for
Himself.
SO 'We should learn to leave
the future with God.
This may sound mournful;
but the ministers of other.
days warried their flock to
live each day as if it were the
last. The Christian has a
glorious future, if we trust in
God, and believe John 3:16,
"For God so loved the world
that He/gaNe His Only
Begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in Him, should not
perish, but shall have
everlasting life."
If we believe this, why
worry about tomorrow. To
our thinking if we are too
concerned about this
material life and as Paul
said, "If in this life only, we
have hope in God, we are of
all men most miserable," we
need to examine ourselves to
see where our faith lies.
So leave all of your
tomorrows with God, and
remember, The Eternal God
is our refuge, and underneath
are the everlasting arms.
Surely this is enough.
"So for Tomorrow and its
needs I do not pray, But keep
me, guide me, help me Lord,
Just for today.

The Godersch Art jab
recently held three seminars
at the Studio in MacKay
Ron Walker, the well-known
artist and teacher who held
similar sessions last year
again presided.
He opened the first seminar
with a series of slides which
dealt with a variety of famous
artists and their various
styles) These revealed many
approaches to realism, ab-
stract and impressionism.
The members were
especially interested in the
French Impressionists and
how they worked. These
artists achieved their style
with a new interpretation, of
light. They placed paint on
the canvas in the form of dots
in contrasting coloars which
created a diffused yet bright
sense of light and shadow.
The resulting canvases
conveyed a sense of at-
mosphere and a more
emotional feeling on the part
of the artist as well as a
similar response from the
viewer. Who has not basked
in the sun of a Renoir painting
which interpreted a lazy
summer afternoon •with
people relaxing on the beach,
floating down the river in a
boat or enjoying refresh-
ments at a riverside
restaurant?
