Glen Falkiner drew first blood in the game with a two out double in the first. Rob Snell scored him with a single. Mike Wildgen added another in the second leading off with a walk and scoring on a Lakeport error. Draper caught his first round tripper in the second inning getting the first hit off John Crawford after Crawfordhad mowed down the first three batters. Ken Doughty started off the big burst for the Bowlers with a Ingle in the fifth. Bruce Stolt dpubled him in then scored on an error to Rob Snell. Dave Patterson doubled Snell in and scored on a single by Mike Wildgen before Terry Powell homered to make it 8- 1. Draper slammed his second round tripper of the game with two out in the sixth to end the Steeler scoring and the Bowlers added another three to their total. Glen Falkiner singled in the sixth and scored on singles by Patterson and Wildgen and John Crawford singled in the seventh and scored on Stoll's double. Stoll came in on a triple by Falkiner before the Steelers ended the misery. John Crawford got the win on a four hitter. Thund.erbirds win opener 8 - 4 over Gords Sports The Green .and Parent Thunderbirds kicked off their first full season of Goderich Industrial Softball by doubling Gords Sports 8-4 S.inday night. Starter Jim Martin held the Sports off the hoard for four and a half innings and Jim Mclvor helped out with the pitching to secure the win. The T -Birds, struck for three runs in the top of the fourth to break open a scoreless tie. Martin led off the inning with a walk and scored on a double 'by Walter Bell. Dick Shoemaker doubled Bell in and scored himself on a long sacrifice by Pete Frayne. John Hakkers continued the drive in the fifth leading off with a triple and scoring on an error to Len Kolkman. Jim Harrison singled Kolkman around and both scored on hack to hack hits by Turner and Bell. Jim Mclvor made it seven in the final inning drawing a walk and moving around on Bell's second double. Doug Spitzig loaded the bags with a walk and Russ Pruder drove in Kelly and Sowerby with. a single. John Phillips started a four run spurt for the Pontiacs in the second inning by waiting out a walk. Phillips stole second and Paul Kelly moved ,&rungs' him to third with a single.
