The Huron'County Board of Health hopes that you or your Board will endorse their recommendation and will create non-smoking areas immediately as the Huron County Board of Health believes that the creation of non-smoking areas is an important step,in the promotion of good ealth and the prevention of disease. The Board of Health would be pleased to know what steps have been taken by you or your organization in the creation of non-smoking areas, both prior to receiving this letter and as a con- sequence of receiving this letter. A reply at your earliest convenience would be ap- preciated. Yours sincerely, G.F. Mills, M.D., D.P.H.; F.R.S.H., Medical Officer of Health, County of Huron. Thanks Dear Editor: The members of the executive of the Goderich Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society wish to sin- cerely thank you 'for the excellent publicity' you have given our activities throughout the past year. We would like to especially thank .you for ,an- nouncements, pictures and stories on special events such as •the breast cancer, education night, the Daffodil, Tea, and other activities during the recent• fund- raising campaign, and for the very informative insert in the issue of March 31. Your interest and support are very much appreciated. Yours sincerely, The Canadian Cancer Society, Goderich Branch, Marion Shaw, Publicity Chairman. Help, please Dear Editor: The continuing dry weather makes it necessary to appeal to homeowners to water the new trees we planted this spring in front of their homes. With the small Parks' crew to cover the whole town in pressing springtime work (plus creating a new park) it is extremely difficult for us to water all the new trees. Unless it rains, please water Me trees thoroughly once a week, also last year's trees. + + + If you know where the Parks Dept. could get'approx. 151 rails plus posts for a rail fence (similar to the one on the Square) to be erected at the new Jubilee 3 Park, pleasebe good enough to telephone me at 524-6520. Thanleyou. Sincerely, Elsa Haydon. (continued from page 4) hotel every hour or so for Plains, and business ap- peared to be booming everywhere we stopped in the state. -f- + + It was good to get back .to "Canada". Coming across the border at Sarnia, we switched on the news. The very first news item we heard was that Jim Hayt r and Anson McKinley wtkuld be opposing each other for the Progressive, Conservative nomination in Huron - Middlesex. Of course, as it turned out, that was purely speculation. Mr. Hayter swung his support behind Mr. McKinley who was then chosen unanimously as the party's candidate here. The big question now in the Riding is: Will the voters here support the second McKinley? Or will they feel that one McKinley in office is enough? .,..w Who knows? 4, µ First impressions though are that people generally across the Riding have been satisfied with their present representative, Jack Riddell who certainly has been active on behalf of the people since his election. Still, the Liberal pro fn.cial leader Stuart • Smith hasn't fired the imagination of the voters to date and many people see Bill Davis as the only choice in Ontario. Whether or not the Davis government has successfully wooed Huron -Middlesex people in recent weeks ....
