the Jubilee 3
e has been ad-
vertising for billets in the
Signal -Star for three weeks
now, Burt Squire of the
committee says there has
been no response from
Goderich citizens.
"Maybe people think the
festivities are too far off to
get excited yet but we need
names now so we can get
organized." he says.
The committee hopes to
keep a listing of billets at the
log cabin information booth
on the Square.
"We need lots of places and
we think lots of people in town
have empty rooms. Maybe
they're just hesitant to take in
strangers which is un-
derstandable," says Squire.
He predicts that there may
be as many as one thousand
people needing places to stay.
If they can't find places, he
says, they will either have to
return to their own homes or
go to other municipalities.
"I'm afraid we may be
swamped with people and
where are we going to put
them? Goderich doesn't have
that many hotels and
motels„” says Squire.
He says the Jubilee 3
committee is still hoping "to
hit a patriotic chord" with the
citizens of Goderich in
response to the need for
billets during this peak time.
"The town has spent
thousands of dollars to give
the citizens , something to.
remember but we are han-
dicapped due to the shortage
of accommodations," says
Squire.
He urges Goderich citizens
to open up their homes to help
make Goderich's 150th bir-
thday celebrations a success.
