I.O.D.E. sets plans_.
for Jubilee Three
The regular monthly
meeting of the Ahmeek
chapter, I,O.D.E. was held on
Monday, May 2 at the home of
Mrs. R. Neville, Rich St., with
a very good attendance. Tow
guests were also present.
Final plans for the Dessert
Card party were discussed by
the members' and the eon-,
venor Mrs. G. F. Mills. This
proved 'a most successful
venture with prizes for bridge
going to Mrs. E. Stephens,
Mrs. C. Kalbfleisch, Mrs. C.
Lowery. The euchre prizes
were won by Mrs. L. Hunking
and Mrs. Stanley Snyder
while the "500" prizes were
awarded to Mrs, G. Fuller
and Mrs. A. Blundell. Three
hampers of groceries were
won by Mrs. C. Crozier, Mrs.
Grindley and Mrs. C. Cutt.
Discussion followed con-
cerning further plans for the
Jubilee celebrations.
Volunteers were then asked
for the Annual Tag Day on
June 17th.
A very informative talk on
activities at the Provincial
Annual meeting in Hamilton
and the work of I.O.D.E. at
home and abroad was given
by Mrs. R. Neville.
A lovely lunch was then
served by the hostess and
Mrs. G. Cunningham. Mrs. C.
Ruffell thanked the ladies and
Mrs. Neville for the use of her
lovely home.
Mrs. C. Cult, Park 'St. of-
fered her home for the next
meeting in June.

Children years ago
Craig Smith, Sonia McCallum and Denise MacDonald,
Grade 2 students at Victoria Public School, give a glimpse_
of early childhood days in Goderich during the class's
contribution of the play Dunlop's Dream - Goderich. The
students of Victoria School presented the play Monday and
Tuesday in conjunction with the town's triple jubilee

Dunlop's Dream - Goderich
The auditorium of Victoria
School held record crowds
both Monday and Tuesday
nights of this week for their
Tri -Jubilee presentation
entitled Dunlop's Dream -
Goderich.
Kindergarten children
opened the program with a
special 150th birthday party
for the town. This was
followed by a historical
overview of local life from the
1850's to the present in drama
and song by pupils of grade
two.
In the intervals between
class presentations, the
theme narrator reminisced
with the audience about
bygone days.
The favorite street games
and chants , preserited by
Grade 1 showed the social
aspect of the children's lives
while the vaudeville jokes,
magic tricks and songs by
grade sixers gave an in-
dication of adult en-
tertainment in a different
era.
An amusing insight into the
controversy between husband '
and wife over work
distribution was presented by
another Grade 1. The Neigh-
bouirly Spirit, a dramatic and
musical account of the first
few years of typical settler
life, in the Goderich area, was
exceptionally well -handled by
Grade 5 students. Mrs. M.
Driver accompanied the
dance group on her violin.
Grade 4 students in-
terjected a lively change of
pace with their spirited
square and round dance
selections. •
Through dramatization
Grade 3 pupils revealed that
Dunlop's Dream was not just
a fantasy but, in reality, the
St. John's Ambulance inspected
The Goderich Division of
St. John's Ambulance par-
ticipated in the annual in-
spection of all units in the
Perth -Huron Corp. area, on
Friday May 6. "74"'"
The units were inspected by
provincial staff officers from
Toronto.
Following the inspection,
awards were presented and
each division demonstrated
proper treatment of various
injuries including severe
burns, asphyxia, fractures
and hemorrhage of the groin.
At the regular meeting on
Sunday May 1, the Goderich
division completed its
reorganization under its new
officers, division superin-
tendent, Tom Lovett and
division officer, Craig
Adams.
Plans were made for a get-
together of all members and
their families at McKay Hall
on Friday night, May 13 in
order to get better
4-H Club hold meeting
The film "Your Career
Through a Microscope" was
viewed by the 4-H Vet Club at
their first regular meeting
held at 8:30 p.m. at the Board
Room of the Clinton
Agricultural Office. After the
film Junior Leader Jamie
Thompson led a discussion on
immunology with references
to the' accomplishments of
Pasteur, Kock and many
othZ'rs.
In other business Leader
Steve Thompson announced
that Bob Shaw employed by
Tuco (a pharmaceutical
company) was willing to
speak to the club at a later
meeting.
Juniors Sandra Nivins and
Shirley Dougherty will be
arranging the next meeting
on Public Health. This
meeting will be held June 1st
at 8:30 p.m. at the Clinton
Agricultural Office,

The audience joined in the
singing of the final two songs
of the Grade 6 musical look at
Goderich through the years.
As a grand finale, students
entered the darkened
auditorium with lighted
sparklers singing - The Triple
Jubilee Song, The stage at-
mosphere was enhanced by
the three dimensional pioneer
and sunset scene, while
silhouettes of children at play
decorated the auditorium and.
hall walls.
On Monday afternoon
students presented a special
performance for the town's
Senior Citizens and several
classrooms from Robertson
School, Everyone agreed that
Dunlop's Dream was a
resounding success,
