INSTITUTE MEETS
The annual meeting of the
Auburn Women's Institute
was held in the Community
Memorial Hall at 12;30 p.m.
when a smorgasbord dinner
was served by Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt, Mrs. Arnold Craig
and Mrs: Donald Cartwright.
The tables were °at-
tractively decorated with.
arrangements of spring
flowers. The meeting was
opened with the Ode, Mary
Stewart Collect and 0 Canada
with Mrs, Catherine Jackson
at the piano
The guest of the afternoon
was Mrs, Ivan Wightman,. of
Belgrave, the president of—
Huron West District of W.I.
She brought greetings from
the district and reviewed the
aims and objectives of the
Women's Institute work on
the occasion of the 80th an-
niversary of this world-wide
organization. She closed her
message by quoting The
Little Red. Hen (Socialism).
Mrs. Donald Haines thanked
Mrs. Wightman and on behalf
of the Members presented her
do
with a gift.
The minutes of the March
meeting and the report of the
year's activities were read by
the secretary Mrs, Donald
Haines. Mrs. Haines alio
gave the year's financial
statement.
Final arrangements were
made for the catering of the,
Horticultural District 8 an-
nual
nnual dinner and Mrs.
Lawrence Plaetzer showed
the lights bought by her for
the Institute for the piano and
_ lectern which had been stolen
from the hall,
Mrs. Donald Haines and
Mrs, Thomas Jardin were
named to conduct the sing-
song at the District annual to
be held at Wesley -Willis
Church, Clinton on May 30th,.
The Auburn branch ap-
proved of the donation for the
gift for Miss Jane Pengilley
and Mrs. Donald Cartwright
reported for the 4-H club and
invited all to the Achievement
Day on Saturday April 30th at
Blyth. -.
Mrs. Haines reported on the
work that is to be done in the
hall to conserve fuel and to fix
the balcony in the hall for
meetings, etc.

Choirs entertain Huronview residents
The Clinton Christian
Reformed Choir provided
special musical numbers for
the Sunday evening Song
Service. The service was led
by Mr, Dick Roorda, Mr. Al
DeHaun directed and ac-
companied, the thirty-five
voice choir. The residents
look forward to this yearly
visit by the choir and enjoyed
it very much,

Speir entertained on MondayH useholder, are touring
afternoon with Old Time Wt stern Ontario this week
and we • appreciate that
Music for the dancing and led" •Huronview was included in
the sing -a -long of favourite their itinerary. The concert

The University of Windsor
school of music presented the
Chamber hour for the Famil,yr
night program. The twenty -
voice choir along with the

number by Marg Morgan,
Gail Stoneman, Vicki G_odden
and Ian Lestein. Mrs,
Margaret Murray thanked all
those responsible for the hour
of fine music on behalf of the
residents.
