Bluewater centre
Bright pink and yellow flowers and
white wicker furniture decorated the
stage in the auditorium of the Bluewater
Centre on Wednesday, April 27 for the
fashion show sponsored by the volunteer
association of that centre.
Over fifty spring and summer outfits
ranging from jumpsuits and tennis
shorts and tennis shorts to all weather
coats and evening gowns were modelled
by women from the Beta Theta chapter
of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Jane
Robinson, a resident of the centre, also
modelled.
Pat Wheeler, head of the volunteer
association at the Bluewater Centre,
says all profits from the show will go to
the residents of the centre.
Bill Gregg, director of the centre,
welcomed guests and thanked all those
responsible dor putting the show
together.
It was a colorful show with a lot of
pastel shades and a mix of red, white
and navy. Burnt yellow, a new colour to
emerge on the fashion scene this year,
was also presented.
Designers seem to be taking fashion
comfort into consideration more these
days. Most of the ocrtfits consisted of
cool, lightweight materials Next to the
old standby materials of cotton and
nylon, polyester seems to 1)0 the most
popular fabric this year ,A new fabric
for spring is velour which makes for a
plush rich look.
It' Wednesday's fashion show is any
indication,. expect to see more capped
sleeves, cowl necks, bowed blouses,
multi striped T shirts, draw string
,waistbands and gaucho pants thisspring
and summer. Mix and match three piece
suits also seem to -be popular.
There were two showings at ! and t;
p.m. The fashions were supplied by the
Irene Hill clothing store. Manager of the
store, Valerie Hutchins, was the coin
mentator.
