Amos elected President
Bill Amos of McGillivray
township is the new president
of the Huron- Middlesex
Progressive Conservative
Association. Mr. 'Amos took
office
resignationfollowing of the formether
president Elmer Hayter of
Stanley township at the an-
nual meeting recently.
Mr. Amos expressed his
appreciation for the hard
work done by Mr. Hayter in
his term of office and an-
nounced he is to be the first
recipient of a past president's
plaque from the association
in appreciation for his years
of service.
The Conservatives in the
riding have not spoken up
enough in the past, remarked
Mr. Amos. Everyone must
speak up about the concerns
facing this riding, .he said,
adding people involvement is
the name of the game.
Mr. Amos encouraged
everyone of the people
present to go out and recruit
five people to become active
in the campaign coming up.
"The first priority of the
new executive," says Mr.
Amos, "will be a nomination
meeting to be held in the not
too distant future."

Hydro rates
may . increase
Goderich residents can
expect to pay an estimated
$2.30 more on their monthly
hydro bills effective January
1, 1978 if Ontario Hydro
decides to increase its rates,
according to Don McMillan of
the Goderich PUC. This
works out to eight cents more
each day.
Ontario Hydro announced
the proposed rate increase in
the cost of electricity for 1978
on April 20. The increase will
average 11.3 per cent for 352
municipal utility systems.
There will also be an increase
of about 12 per cent to 100
large industrial customers.
