Team members Dave Moore, Stewart Crew and Larry Gaynor made the presentation. Coach Brian Rumlg was absent. (staff photo) Arenouse questioned The Goderich recreation board passed a motion at its regular monthly meeting .to examine a reorganizational program to streamline and centralize both recreation staff and facilities. The motion called for a feasibility study on the reorganization of recreation department staffand the centralization of facilities. Recreation director Mike Dymond is expected 4 to 'submit a report on the motion at, the June meeting of the board. Board members also discussed several' proposals Maitland gets set for season Tee time is now at the Maitland! The good weather of the past weekend brought many golfers out, some for the first "time, and other hardier individuals who have been out several times. The course suffered very little winter damage, com- pared with other years, and is in great shape. Golf clinics for both men and ladies are being held twice weekly by club pro Ed Rowe. Fourteen ladies are learning the basics on Monday and Wednesday; Skaters elect officers The Goderich Figure Skating Club held a meeting on April 28 in the Vimy lounge of the Royal Canadian Legion. The new slate of officers was appointed. New president is Ellen Jeffrey; secretary, June Horton and treasurer, Charles Boddy,. Committee chairmen are: membership, Joanne Nor- man; ways and means, Alberta Moore, publicity, Carol Rean; private lessons, Betty Allan; property, Bill Moore; social, Sherri Hayter; test, Vi deHaas; competition, Cathy Boddy; carnival, Eunice Dechert; directors, 'Betty Harris, Ann Cooper, Nancy Flynn and John Duck- worth. Bruce will be sorry to hear that she fell a short while ago, suffering a hairline fracture in the pelvis. Her daughter, Jean Knight, tells us that she is progressing very well. She is up and dressed each day, undergoing some physical therapy. Knowing Mrs. Brute's stamina, she will be back with us in no time! Members are reminded that the facilities of the clubhouse are there for everyone's use. Remember, golfers! He said that there is a ball - hockey association in Ontario and he would investigate the formalitiesof establishing a league. He claimed that several young hockey players he spoke to were enthusiastic to play ball hockey during the summer months and that the establishment of a league would also provide revenue for the arena. Jewell also proposed that tennis courts be set up on the arena floor for play -as -you - play tennis. The committee discussed the possibility of converting the arena floor into tennis courts and- will pursue the matter at the June meeting. In other board business, the Caldwell, Stewart have perfect rounds Jim Caldwell of Kippen, Bill Thompson of Clinton and Bill Stewart of Goderich showed perfect ' marksmanship on April 26 when they shot perfect scores of 25 at.the Vanastra Trap Shoot. John Anderson of Kippen and Tom Anderson of Lon- desboro followed closely ' behind with scores of 24 each: Lloyd Venner of Hensall, George Hamm of Blyth and Jeff Darling of Exeter held high scores of 23. Murray East of Clinton and Jim Butcher of Clinton both shot 22 birds while Jack Mills of Guelph, Bill Boussey of Kitchener and. John Hessel of Goderich hit 21. Eugene Clark of Exeter followed with 20, John McKishnie of Goderich shot 19, Mery Batkin of Clinton hit 18 birds, ,and Ashley Gilbert of Goderich had 15 points, Tom Allen was the lone shooter of 25 at the skeet shoot, held on April 30. He was followed by Ernie Marshall of Mitchell who shot 24 birds. Merv. Batkin, Bill Stewart, Murray East, and Gerry Coleman of Clinton all shot 23, while Harrison Schock of Zurich and Bill Pincombe of Toronto shot 22. John Anderson, Ashley Gilbert and Glen Mogk -of Bornholm each hit 21. Paul Mellar of Vanastra and Herman Fisher of Benmiller shot 19, John 'Hesse! shot 18 and Randy Stewart, the junior shooter from Goderich hit 10 birds. The purpose of the meetings is to air public criticism of the recreation board, the facilities it maintains and the programs it offers to the public. The board hopes it can improve in areas that recreation is lacking in Goderich and it will also give the public an opportunity to provide input into the type of recreation they believe is . needed in the community. Recreation director Mike Dymond announced that Judith. Gooderham pool will open June 6 this year and nine supervisors have been hired for pool duty, Beach patrol will begin July 1 and continue through September 5.
