Harry Dykstra installed
Brotherhood president
The ..first annual spring
banquet of the South Saugeen
Brotherhood of Anglican
churchmen was held at St.
George's Church in Goderich
on April 1. Anglican men in
attendance were from
Meaford, Walkerton,
Wingham, Gorrie, Fordwich,
Kincardine, Hanover and
Goderich.
During the Holy Com-
munion service which
preceded the banquet, the
officers of the Deanery
Council were installed. They
were Harry Dykstra,
President; Dennis Cluley,
Vice -President: and Grant
Collins, Sec. treas. The Rural
Dean, the Rev. Reg Warner
officiated for the installation
of the officers.
A delicious roast beef
dinner was prepared by the
ACW of St. George's and
thoroughly enjoyed by all
present. President, Harry
Dykstra introduced Graham
Lougheed, the North Saugeen
Deanery President, as well as
Pat Daunt, Diocesan BAC
President.
The Rev. R Crocker
introduced Pete Emmons
from Sarnia, the guest
speaker. Pete's topic was
"Jesus Christ as a Layman".
He relayed through his own
experiences, that people must
have a communication line
open with the Lord, and once
"turned on", people cannot
live without him. By loving
one another and sharing their
lives people will achieve
peace of mind.
Dennis Cluley thanked Pete
bysaying he was a living
example of the South Saugeen
B.A.C. motto, "We are
Ambassadors for Christ".
The new B.A.C. chaplain,
Rev. Orence Larramie, who
will be installed at the Spring
Conference in Woodstock,
closed the meeting with a
prayer.

A celebration in the Bible
that interests me is when
David brought the ark of the
Lord to the City of David. He
was so happy he danced with
joyful abandon at the front of
the procession to the temple.
His wife, Michal, a royal
princess, took a dim view of
his behaviour and accused
him of making a fool of
himself in front of his people.
David's answer was that he
was dancing before the Lord
who made him king of Israel
and that he was more than
willing to look like a fool in
order to show his joy and
thanksgiving to God.
The people standing on the
sidelines watching the parade
seemed unable to join David's
dance. They were, perhaps,
less sinful than their king.
They trusted God, their
confessed sins had been
forgiven but they could not
dance.
How many people are
there, I wonder, who are like
those who watched David
dance ,but couldn't join him?
Good, solid, faithful, gray
people who never do anything
very wrong but who have -
never experienced the hope
and joy' in Christ that allows
them to dance in and through
life. Some of them may not
want to dance for fear of
looking foolish. Others may
be afraid to take the first
faltering steps. 'Still others
may want to dance very
much but nobody ever asks
them. In any case, they are
all missing the joyful ex-
perience of allowing Christ to
take over their livws.
