Bruce Murray flashes -tile gold
Kincardine roar
by Randy Hardisty
Kincardine came on like
gang busters in the third
period of the B division final
against Acton and scared four
quick goals to win 4-1.
The first period was end to
end action with heavy checks
being thrown at both ends of
the ice.
Acton put on the pressure in
the first few minutes of the
period with Kincardine's
Paul Emmerton in the
penalty box.
Most of the period was
centred between the bluelines
as the forechecking by both
clubs prevented anyone from
getting a good shot on net.
There were more checks
thrown in the period than
there were shots on. net.
The first period was
oreless.
A shot by a Kincardine
player just missed dropping
in the net, when he fired a
slapshot from the point that
went off the Acton's goalie's
glove and over the net.
Kincardine came upshort
again when number seven,
Sean Leach had a breakaway
and hit the goalie's pads with
his shot.
The scoreboard finally lit
up in the final two minutes of
the second period when
Kincardine's goalie couldn't
control a rebound.
Acton's Bob Vermulen
picked up the puck in front of
the net and popped it in.
Acton controlled the. :first
few minutes of the third
period when Kincardinelhad
trouble clearinithe puck out
of their own end.
Acton's forechecking was a
big factor until Kincardine's
Paul Emmerton got on the
track and tied the game at
6:20 of the period.
