Listowel outscored Woodbridge 6-3 in -151 game that was _pinyed Saturday _morrinit. Listowel got the first goal of the game at 4:22 of the first period. Terry McCutcheon scored the goal with a blazing slapshot from the point and the puck caught the top left corner of the net. McCutcheon almost scored again with his big slapshot but the puck hit the Wood- bridge goalie on his mask and glanced off to the side. Paul Failis scored the second Listowel goal of the period when his wrist shot hit the goalie's glove and deflected into the net. Woodbridge scored its only goal of the period when Al Romkema flipped a shot over the opposing goalie's stick. The Listowel goalie came up with a spectacular save when he came out of his net to take the puck off a Wood- bridge player's stick who had a breakaway. Listowel outskated Woodbridge in the game and their passing was more ef- fective. - Ttie second period belonged to Listowel as McCutcheon came up with his second and third goals of the game, both on slapshots. The third period opened with Listowel's Kevin Hutton skating through the defence from a faceoff and used a rising wrist shot to spore the goal. Listowel got its second of the period within minutes of the first when Pete Zister put a backhand shot into the net. Woodbridge tryed tG come back and scored two goals late in the period. Vince Pickett scored the first on a shot to the top right corner when he picked up a rebound in front of the Listowel net. The second was a short handed goal when Gary Poole shot through a maze of players in front of the Listowel net and the puck dropped in. It was too late to play catchup hockey and Listowel _ won the game. The first period was end to end action with heavy checks being thrown at both ends of the ice. Acton put on the pressure in the first few minutes of the period with Kincardine's Paul Emmerton in the penalty box. Most of the period was centred between the bluelines as the forechecking by both clubs prevented anyone from getting a good shot on net. There were more checks thrown in the period than there were shots on. net. The first period was oreless. A shot by a Kincardine player just missed dropping in the net, when he fired a slapshot from the point that went off the Acton's goalie's glove and over the net. Kincardine came upshort again when number seven, Sean Leach had a breakaway and hit the goalie's pads with his shot. The scoreboard finally lit up in the final two minutes of the second period when Kincardine's goalie couldn't control a rebound. Acton's Bob Vermulen picked up the puck in front of the net and popped it in. Acton controlled the. :first few minutes of the third period when Kincardinelhad trouble clearinithe puck out of their own end. Acton's forechecking was a big factor until Kincardine's Paul Emmerton got on the track and tied the game at 6:20 of the period.
