The annual planning meeting for W.I. executives will be held in Belgrave Hall April4 at 1 p.m. Birthday greetings were sung for Mrs. A.B. Straughan, Mrs. Hawkins and Mrs. Campbell. Mrs: G. Taylor, -assistant curator acting in absence of the curator Mrs. H. Talmay, was responsible for the program. A very full report on work done on Tweedsmuir History books in the past year was given..,, Several books were on display including West Huron, in which Goderich Branch History is to be ad- ded. Mrs. A. Holmes thanked and presented Mrs. Taylor with 'a gift for all her valuable assistance in this work. Mrs. H. Anderson and Mrs. B: Crawford were also com- mended - for their help and time given in compiling these books. Mrs. H. Anderson gave a paper on Current Events. • Mrs. R. Harrison favored with two solos. Mrs. Norman Clairmont reported on sick and shut-in members. Mrs. P. Another project which we hope to begin soon is oil - painting. have a few bare walls which we could enhance and we feel that we could enjoy paintingour own pic- tures. Again, as to many of our projects, we would cer- tainly appreciate help from anyone who could share an artistic talent with us. Added to the usual ac- tivities this tnonth, was a visit from the Clare McGowan Unit of North Street U.C.W. and Miss Van Pypen and her songsters from Robertson School, grade three and four. Also the C.G.I.T. group from Knox Presbyterian Church. who have taken several of our residents under their youthful Wings and who, along with the Grade eights Sunday school class from Bethel Pen- tecostal Church made us feel loved and special on Valentines Day. A special art display of the students of Grade six from Robertson School is brightening our home. We are really enjoying it - drop in and see it when you have a minute or so. Welcome to our homes this last month were - Henry Brimicombe, Mrs. Helen Moore, Mrs. Ruth Taylor, Mrs. Rudy Sandy and Mrs. Wilmot Hillyard. We have great plans for the future but we^do need help - if you can „spare a little time to help in any way - please call Ann St. Jean at 524-7324. SECONDARY PLAN Colborne Township residents and taxpayers interested in Colborne Township Secondary Plan are urged to be present at the Public Meeting in Colborne Township Hall this Thursday evening, March 10 at 8:00 p.m. when yourcomments, opinions and suggestions on this proposal will be heard. 4=H CLUB The second meeting of Tiger Dunlop Group One was held in Colborne Township Hall, Carlow, February 28. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and all girls answered the Roll Call and showed the pattern, fabric and trim they chose, telling the -name of the fabric and fibre and the care of same. Darlene Jewell and Nancy Brindley discussed how to Alter their patterns and all the girls then laid their patterns and studied them. Nancy Brindley showed how to do the Tailor Tacks, and Darlene Jewell demonstrated how to straighten the grain of the material. The meeting closed with Christine Riehl reading the Creed. The third meeting of this group was -held March 47 in Colborne Township Hall. The meeting was opened with the 4-H Pledge and the Roll Call "Give one point to remember when cutting or marking the fabric" was answered by all members present. The minutes of last meeting were read and the girls then worked on the seams. The plain seam was done by Nancy Brindley, the dart by Christine Riehl, the flat felt by Darlene Jewell and the French seam by Marie Brindley with the stay - stitching by Nancy Brindley. The girls then looked at the other members' material and told them what kind of seam finishes they should use on their garment. The members picked their cover and will be thinking on a name for the next meeting which, owing to school exams .t -And Easter break, will not be. until Monday, March 28. The meeting closed with the Creed read by Kathy Schoemaker. The leaders gave per- mission for the girls to work, on their garments at home during the next two weeks, if they wished. Tiger Dunlop Group four met for their second meeting at the home of Mrs. Frank Mills. The meeting opened with the Pledge and seven girls answered the Roll Call. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Joyce Dougherty. The leaders showed the girls how to alter their pattern and pin the pattern to the fabric. The meeting closed with the girls repeating the motto "Learn to do by doing". SOCIAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson and children of Loyal corner, Had a very busy weekend. On Saturday evening they joined Mr. and Mrs. Carter Kerslake, Mr. and Mrs. George Vivian and family and Mr. and Mrs. Craig Kerslake in a birthday celebration for several of the group, and on Sunday were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. David Brown and family at Dublin. On Monday Mrs. Thompson had .a birthday party for her four year old daughter Renee at their home when she entertained several of her daughter's friends, Wanda Abbott, Pamela Armstrong, Laurie Edward, Barbara Hallam and her sister Danielle. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Westlake, Saltford and Mr: Harvey Alton of Lucknow flew to Birmingham, Alabama where they are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Henderson and family. Mr. Henderson is the well-known hockey player and while Mr. Alton is Mrs. Henderson's father, the Westlakesare also related. All report they are having a most enjoyable holiday.
