The Graham Electrics
' were defeated 4-2 by
Walkerton In the opener of a
best of three novice league
final recently. The game was
close as the score indicated
with the Electrics lacking the
finishing touches around the
net that could have made the
outcome different.
In the first period, Dave
Jewel scored early unassisted
to give the Electrics a short-
lived lead. Walkerton came
back with two fast goals
minutes later to lead 2-1 after
one.
In the second Walkerton
scored with 35 seconds left in
the period to make it 3-1 after
two. In that period the
Electrics had a couple of
power plays with Hewell,
Dave Telford and Scott
Garrow coming close to
getting the equalizer.
With only seconds gone in
the third, Walkerton notched
the goal that broke the
Electric's back. The Elec-
trics did not give up though as
Dave Jewell made it 4-2 with
Kevin Telford and Darren
Connelly assisting with six
minutes left. Shortly after,
the Walkerton goaltender
made key saves off Ron
Chapman, Darcy McGee and
Jewell again to preserve the
win for his team.Defencemen

V and G end three game curling slump
Thursday, March 3 was a
night of one-sided scores as
the winning teams at least
doubled their opponent's
totals.
Once again the skip of the
winning team was superb.

The Kinsmen team had four
rocks in the house in the
eighth end but the Teachers
No. 2 team scored three
their 14th win against one loss
by defeating a game Teacher
No. 3 team 9 - 2. Skip Denis
Lebrun had-. one of his best -
evenings of the year as he
made key shots in the early
ends to give his team an in-
surmountable lead. The front
three of both teams were
evenly matched with teacher
team member Diane Cloet
leading the losers with out-
standing shots throughout the
game.
Victoria and Grey
recovered from a nagging
three -game slump as they
overcame a challenge from
the Financial Team for
second place. The V & G team
led all the way and recorded a
9 - 4 victory.
Skip Steve Williard was a
pblished perfectionist as he
constantly made the correct
shot and achieved the perfect
roll. Financial skip Craig
Cass was unable to match the
fine efforts of Williard on this
.particular night but is hopeful
that he will get another
chance during the play-offs. V
& G Vice Skip Hugh Doggett
enjoyed a taste of revenge as
he contributed to the victory
over a Financial team which
contained his previously
victorious wife, Louise as
well as Bev Doll and Caroline
Cass.
