indemnity benefit of $100 total

for 14 trustees.
Trustees are insured by the
board when they are on board
'business. Insurance
representatives from
Stratford, David Reed and
John Lawson, said this was
possible but to estimate the
extra cost it would be
necessary to know.. what type
of work each trustee was
employed. The insurance and
finance committee will look
into this before next renewal
date in October.
In other business, mileage
allowance paid to trustees
was increased from 16 cents
to' 18 cents per mile
retroactive to January 1,
1977.
The board will again this
year ask the municipalities in
Huron and -Perth to pay the
school levies in two in-
stallments on June 30 and
December 15.
Trustee David Teahen
questioned why
municipalities do not pay
_ their school levies on the
same dates they collect their
taxes such as Stratford which
collects four times a year.
Trustee Connolly said he
felt all municipalities should
be dealt with in the same
manner and all pay twice
yearly.
Jack Lane, superintendent.
of business, explained that
the board would have to have
its budget completed much
earlier than it does at present
in order to get requisitions out
to municipalities so that they
could -pay in March. ,q

I worked as a clerk in a discount store, but the last thing 1
expected to be discounted was my wages. We are paid every
Friday. This Friday' I not only got my pay cheque, but also a
notice that as of that day my services would no longer be
required.
It seems that business has been bad, and the store decided to
cut back on staff. But I think that I'm entitled either to notice or
to an extra week or two of pay. Am I right?
You are entitled to notice or to pay in lieu of notice provided
you have been working for more than 3 months and have not
been fired for misconduct or wilful disobedience.' You are not
entitled to notice or to pay in lieu of notice If you have merely
been laid off and the layoff is for less than 13 weeks.
However it the termination is permanent, you are entitled to a
notice determined by the length of your employment: a week's
notice for an employee for between 3 months and 2 years; 2
weeks' notice for between 2 and 5 years; 4 weeks' notice for
between 5 and 10 years, and8 weeks' notice for 10 years or more.

I have thought several times recently of making a will but
being the world's greatest procastinator have kept putting it off;
however my brother recently died very suddenly without one so
now I'm ready to make mine.
I've thought of saving some money and making my will on one
of those forms they sell at the stationery store. Are there any
particular formalities about signing it and so forth?

retiring couple,
We wouldn'tadvise anyone to use one of these homemade
wills. They are worded in general language, and you may not
end up making the dispositions of your property you would have
wished.
However, if you insist. the requirements are these: A will
must be in writing. It must be signed by•the testator (that iso the
person whose will it is) or by someone else for him, and at his
request. And the signature must be made in the presence of at
least two attesting witnesses, who must also sign.

I'm 17 years old. When I Teff home last summer, 1 got a small
apartment. I've gotten tired of living alone, and 1 want to move
out. Can my lar.4lord enforce the lease against me?
Under the Age of Majority and Accountability Act of 1971, the
age of majority in Ontario for civil purposes is now 18, where it
formerly was 21. This means that you are still a minor.
Now, normally a contract entered into by a minor, is not en-
forceable against film unless he ratifies it after he reaches the
age of majority or unless it is a contract for necessities,
Necessities include food, clothing, and -shelter. A lease can be
seen as a contract to provide you shelter, and so it is binding,
even though you are under age.
