Coaches of the GDCI wrestling team this season were Ray Donnelly and Bob Dick. '14 on both the goals, assisted by Bob. Carr and Vaughn MacDonald. Port Elgin scored their final goal near the end of the first period when Ashley Cook scored on a pass from Rob Bender. The Suns got untracked in the second period and started carrying the play to Port Elgin, scoring twice. John Thompson and Daryl Madge - were the Sun's goal -getters. Assists went to Todd Graham and defenceman David Day. Although the Suns con- trolled the play in much of the third period they were unable to get the equalizer past Bob Armstrong in e Port Elgin goal. Ter ean, returning • from a b ut with the flu, gave a s performance in the Sun's net, shutting out Port Elgin over the last two periods. - , The Suns finished second in the regular schedule with 22 points in 19 games. Port Elgin finished fourth with 17 points in 19 games. In the four meetings between the two teams during the regular season, each team won twice, once at home, and once away. The Suns victories were by 7-3 and 5-0 scores while Port Elgin won 5-1 and 3-1. Sun's coach Richard Madge rates Saturday's game as a toss-up, and feels that the team that wants it most w,ill probably win. "When two teams are so evenly matched, in a series such as this, desire is usually what decides it," said the Sun's coach. Saturday's game will tell the tale. The Atom game will be one of four playoff games at Vanastra Saturday evening. At 5 p.m. the Graham Electric Novices begin a best of three series against Listowel. Following the,Atom game, the Lakeport Steelers begin their quarter- final OMHA playoff series with .Glanbrook and in the final game of the evening the Signal -Star Juveniles play Byron in the fourth game of their best of five OMHA series. Byron ,leads that series two games to one. Stratford Central. The Vikings led 30-25 at halftime, but a bad third quarter, in which they lost their momentum, cost them the game. Steve Arbour had a game -high total of 29 points for the -Vikings. Dan Maillet had five and Joe Moore hooped four for GDCI. Rob Eybergen had 13 and Kevin O'Donovan 10 for the winners. The Vikings, who have won six times against their two losses, wind up their season this week.
