Bogie ESSO Valentine Mixed
Bonspiel was held " on
February, 12. Sixteen teams
were involved in this event
and the day was culminated
witha dinner and dance.
Winners of the first draw
and.., overall winner was 'the.
Jamieson .Ribey . rink with
Ken Bogie, skip,'Faye Ribey
and Heather Jewell. Second
place winner was the rink of
Jim and Barb Hawkins with
Len and Eileen Bowman.
Third place went to Al and
Phyllis Durst with Tom and•
Betty Moore. .T1 e' consolation
prize went to a Seaforth rink
of Mike and Marilyn Thomas
with Jack and Jean Kyle.
The second draw was won
by John MacKinnon's rink
with Tom Love, skip, Nancy
MacKinnon and Brenda Love,
Second place winner was the
rink of Don and Lynn Edward
with Bill and Kay King. Third
place went to Don and Sally
MacEwan with Don and.

and Lorraine Betties won the
second draw consolation:

On February 10, three
Goderich "Ladies rinks
travelled to Mitchell , for a
Bonspiel. In the first draw the
rink of Bernice Moore with
Phyl Durst, Lois Vanstone
and Eleanor Fisher was the
winner. Lynn Edward's rink
of Jean McGee, Bev Wright
and Vivienne Takalo won
fourth prize and.50 pounds 'of
turnips` enc$: A so competing

only defeat in a -close 9 to 8
final game, , and both these
teams wilt be representing
Huron' county at :the
playdowns in Listowel.
• The girls'team, skipped: by
Jody Brissette, has Mary -
Jane Mombourquette at"irace,
Kellie. Ross at second :`and
Sandra Nivins at lead. ,They
made a clean sweep Wall
their- games, coming , from
behind each :time on some
clutch shot -making -by the
skip.
"She was definitely,,"the
most consistent playerk"out
there," said Doug Bundy,
coach of the high-school
team, "she never got
flustered and was always
able to make the difficult shot
when it was needed. They
were behind 10 to 7 playing;
the second game, and. Jody
-placed the rocks perfectly to
lay 4 on the last end; and win
it.
"But the best shot of the
day was an extremely dif-
ficult draw to the four -foot
around two guards that Rob
Youngblut made on the
extra -end in their second
game to win 9 to 8 over
W Ingham".
Coach Bundy feels con-
fident that both teams will be
strong contenders for the
curling crowns at Huron -
Perth next Wednesday.
The GDCI curling team advanced to the" o13 -Perth
curling finals to be held in Listowel February 23.The

Last week the. Goderich
Tpwnship Chess Club had its
best turnout of the season
with all : but one of the
regulars present ` and four
honorary members at-
tending.
Charles MacDonald is now
one game short of qualifying
as a regular member, and has
moved • into the Honorary
division. This enabled Dave
Weary to take over first spot
with his very admirable 17-3
record. Bob Dick continued to
play extremely well, winni ng
his only game of the night, to
take over third spot. Louis
Stadelmann also having a
great year won three games
to take sole "possession of
having the most wins this
season with 28.
In Level' Two, Brian Miller
won his only game of the
evening to up his win loss
pescentage by 10 points to"'
.724. Doug Brindley moved up
into third place slipping by
Sam Hassan by seven points.
First place spot in Level
Three is shared by three
players all with exactly .500
percentages - Charles Cook,
Don Bogie and Kirk Lyndon.
Larry Gower came up with
his tenth win to take over the
remaining third level
position.
In Level Four play, Larry
Gower gained his eighth win
to take over first place honors
while Barry. Page and Ron
