It has been suggested that
in the meantime, video
games should be turned off
when not in actual use, and
setsshould be, adjusted to low
brightness and contrast while
being used with the games.
These precautions should be
followed with all .game and
set combinations, at least
until full technical in-
formation is available.
Retention of a dark outline,
of, the game pattern during
regular ' TV viewing is ap-
parently a result of a
phenomenon known as
"phosphor exhaustion” which
normally occurs. at an 'even
rate over the entire' television
screen and is only per-
ceptible, if at -all, as a very
gradual dimming of; the total
image and can be .Corrected
by increasing the brightness
setting.
video games, however,
produce a constant outline
pattern on the screen so that
fading of the picture -tube
phosphor does not occur'

sets used in its stores,' over
prolonged___ periods, for
demonstration purposes.
This information tends to
confirm recent conversations
between officials of the
department and the Elec-
trical and Electronic
Manufacturers Association of
Canada. In the cir-,
cumstances, with an increase
in the purchase of video
games ' during the, holiday,4-
season, all consumers' .should
be immediately aware of the
reported problem, pending
final outcome of discussions
underway with the industry.

Captain Paul Snodgrass led
the Walkerton team with
three goals. Steve Inkster
added a pair and Paul Bolton
and. Kevin Weber had one
goal each.
Daryl Madge and John
Thompson were the Goderich
goal -getters. Grant Garrow

play, but Walkerton scored
three times before the period
ended and added two more in
the second to take a com-
manding 5-1 lead.
The Sups were not out-
played as badly as the score
might suggest, but
Walkerton, who are runaway
leaders in league standings,
made the most of their op-
portunities and the Suns were
not able to capitalize on their
chances.
The Suns record now stands
at eight wins and ,six losses
and they hold second place, a
distant 12 points behind
Walkerton.
