A clean sweep
for posties in '77
•
Goderich Postmaster Mel Farnsworth this week called
fora "clean sweep for posties"..
You see, no one hates to see the ice and snow of winter
more than your mailman. Hesstill trying to live up to.
• the old adage, "neither. 'sleet, nor ,snow•, nor dark of.
• - night" and he must deliver th, ,mail in all these con-
ditions.
With a little help from the residents on his route, your
mailman's job could be made safer and easier.
If, after a . snowfall 'or freezing 'rain storm, you
shovelled your walk and salted it, your mailman :could
continue the excellent ser ice -he gives you all -summer.
• Slippery walks and porches, objects hidden under.a
blanket of snow or icy stairs to the verandah are hazards
the mail carrier faces at every stop. They could be the
cause of a nasty fall that could force him off the job for a
long time.
The post office does not wish to force. their customers
into .action but they do advise the people that if the
mailman cannot, in his opinion, get to your• mailbox
safely, he will not deliver your mail.
So how about a "clean sweep" for your, postie.-
