Seventeen members were present and a total of twenty-two games were played. Chas. MacDonald remains the only undefeated player in the club with fifteen wins. Dave Weary won both of his games and now has fifteen wins in seventeen games. In Level two play Brian Miller picked up his four - FM Wingham step closer.. With the arrival of the Collins FM transmitter at the CKNX transmitter complex near Formosa, another phase in the massiveundertaking of getting a new FM radio station set up and on -the -air is complete. The new FM transmitter. measuring three feet wide, six feet high. and nine feet long....is the magic grey box that puts CKNX-FM in the air. The CKNX-FM stereo 102 signal will blanket the area bounded by Wiarton in the north....Exeter in the south; the communities on the shore of Lake Huron in- cluding Kincardine, Port Elgin and Goderich and in the east communities in- cluding Mount Forest, Collingwood, and Elmira. This large coverage area will receive a full . power signal, both day and night. In the near future, the new FM transmitter will be hooked up to the studio in Wingham, and initial testing will take place. As spring approaches so does the reality of local FM radio service on CKNC-FM stereo 102. teenth victory to hold on to the lead. Charles Cook moved into the second Level from the honorary division. Charles has a very nice .682 win -loss percentage. .Leading Level 3, is Doug Brindley with a commanding edgeover second place Sam Hassan. Larry- Gower picked up his sixth win of the season to pass his brother Jim. and move into the third Level. Jim Gower has a slight lead over Barry Page for the lead in the fourth' Level. Barry gained his sixth win of the season to improve his per- centage for the second straight week. In the` honorary division Kirk Lyndon improved his percentage by 161 points to move up into fourth place. Scott 0 ' 5 0 Police- investigate two break ins The Goderich ,police department is investigating two break • ins this week in which over $800 in .cash and some other merchandise were stolen. Chief Pat King said Tuesday his officers we•_e still investigating two separate thefts, one at Blue's Supermarket and one.. at the Club Grill. Orville Stanley, owner of Blue's Supermarket on The Square reported , to police Friday December 17 that his store had been broken into and about $400 in cash and some cigarettes had been County swine flu vaccination program teniporarily suspende Huron County Medical Officer of Health Dr. Frank Mills, while responding to question arising from the report of the Board of Health to the December meeting of Huron County Council, an- nounced that the Swine Flu vaccination program in Huron had been indeed halted as was the case .all across Canada. Dr. Mills told the meeting that the Ministry of Health., had telephoned him on. Thursday evening ordering a stop to the program "for the moment". He said the halt was Shorthorn elects officers By Wilma Oke Ken Niewhinney of RR 1, Lucknow, was elected president . of Perth -Huron Shorthorn Club at the•annual dinner meeting in Brodhagen recently. He succeeds Ross Procter, of RR 5, Brussels. Ron Shelley of RR 2, Gorrie, and William Lannin of Dublin, were elected vice-' presidents. Gerald Smith of RR 2, Brussels, secretary - treasurer, for the past eight years resigned. His successor is . to be named at the next meeting of the executive. Mr. Smith was named as the club director to the Ontario Shorthorn Club. 4-H members -from Perth and Huron Counties, with Shorthorn calves, . were guests of the club. Glen Frost, Cambridge, secretary of the Ontario Shorthorn Club, told the farmers present not to push 4-H calf owners on to win at shows but to_ let them enjoy their calves and gain ex- perience 'for x-perience'for the second year. Each 4-H member was presented with a gift of $5. Bruce McCall, manager of the. Brussels Sales Barn, was the guest speaker: He said fal'iners with feeding cattle had gone through the hardest year with unfair prices. . Bert Pepper, secretary sales agent for the Canadian Association of Shorthorn Club, said there were 800 clubs in Canada a,t the present time. He displayed. literature, truck decals, pictures and other material than can be used for teaching in schools or 4-H groups or by owners of Shorthorns • Frank Falconer of RR 5, Clinton, spoke of the -calf club sale at Milverton last spring and the one to be held this coming year. The break-in occurred while the store was closed and unoccupied. A second, break and enter on—Saturday December 18 at the Club Grill , on Kingston Street resulted in the theft of $464 cash, a camera and eight cartons of cigarettes. Chief King said the restaurant had beenentered through a forced door in the kitchen at the rear of the premises. He said in- vestigating officers were still working on the case adding he did not suspect the two crimes were related. "After that we wouldneed proof that reaction was in- deedconnected to the vac- cination," the MOH said. Goderich-Reece Stan Profit asked how long the vaccine could be kept. Dr. Mills said it was un- certain but certainly the shelf life was two years and under refrigeration could be longer. Dr. Mills said that to date about 4,000 shots had been administered in Huron with very very few reactions. All of those were minor, he suggested, citing one sore arm, one case of fever and chills and a case of an upset stomach. All of those he said could be considered "normal reaction' to that type of vaccination. The Medical Officer of Health Medical Officer of Health talked of the vaccine in terms of "highly purified" and "high quality". In other Board of Health business the council was. .informed that a meeting has been set for "10:00 a.m. January 7 between county representatives and representatives of the Ontario Nurses`Association to discuss contract arrangements covering Public Health Nurses em- ployed by the County. The Council also approved a -recommended budget for the Health Unit totalling -$680,162. General ex- penditures have been set at $535,182, Family Planning at $65;430 and . Plumbing and. Environment at $79,550. A request from the Huron Centre for Children and Youth to rent two ,rooms on the second floor of the Clinton unit offices was also ap- proved. The rooms are presently being used for storage and the monthly rental rate was set at $100 per month.
