I missed the Santa parade -_
I do hope you had decent
weather and a real GREAT
parade with several bands,
fine floats and lots . of .funny
clowns.
The majorettes are always
cute and I know the .kids
would enjoy the fine looking
Santa in all his glory. I hope
he had -his elves with him
and lots of treats. I missed it
all ...I really did !
I_ understand you've been
'having snow and.Christrnassy
weather ... puts you- in the
mood for cards and giftsand
such: Herex I just can't get in
the mood, NOHOW! Last
week we had some cool
weather. it • went below 40
.,degrees for a few nites and
the days were 'cloudy and.
wind cold and spasmodic
rain... We spent one whole day
and night right indoors never
peeping • outside. But that's
only one day, the other "cold
weather" has been won-
derful. 1 only hope I never'
need that coat'I didn't bring.
The stores are stuffed with
goodies and the TV ads are
full of things like bottle
cutters and buttoneers and
ordinary things you might
buy any time, but they seem
to be pushed mostly at
Christmas. —Not • much
Christmas music but who can
-think of it when there's no
snow?
West. Venice Avenue a
handsome street which runs
from the bridge to the Gulf of
Mexico a double isidd.with-a
centre . boulevard with a fine
double row of palm trees, is
now decorated beautifully.
The "Christmas cards -
three by four feet an. d larger -
are. standing along the
boulevard on both sides and
thanks to the artists in this
area, are very lovely. The
main topic of conversation
seems to be giiests for the
holiday - so,rnany;people are
having folks fror ,th.e north. I
hope my "folks": -are able to
make it.

Ron Shaw admits our group
area great lot. How did the
three nights of putting a fresh
beard on Dr. Mike Watts go?
Speaking of beards the V.L.T.
have . •a play coming up
requiring ten •- mostly long -
beards. The director has
asked me to make the beards
real hair and all - a big job.
I'll be Ale to make wigs after
this workout; but I'm looking
forward to .it as there is. no
way you can make up beards
every night for two weeks.
We are just a short distance
from Port , Charlotte and
between here and there, there
is an area where streets were
laid out paved and all -,then
never used. This is where the
small planes have been
dropping down vliith their
illegal cargoes and there has
been lots of e1Ccitement.
When you go for a spin over
this area it is easy to see why
these people choose those
roads as landing fields - they
.=,l,00k easy - and there are lots
of them.
With the parcel service
people out on strike the post
office has been flooded with
the parcels and even sending
things at the beginning of the
month. I doubt they would
reach Canada before
Christmas., It looks pretty
bad.
The stacks and bags : of
cards and letters are very
heavy and take twice asjong
as ...they should in reaching
their destination..I want all
my friends to know that I
think of them all and in-
