Christmas season on the
Goderich Sti-eet last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Rick
Ferguson returned on the
weekend after a two-week
holiday in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Sanderson attended the
wedding of their eldest
daughter, , Barbara, at
Pickering last Saturday.

The Anglican Church
Women of St. -Mark's church
was held last Thursday at the
home of Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt. The hostess was in
charge and opened the
meeting with a hymn.
The scripture lesson was
read by Mrs. Donald Cart-
wright and " the meditation
was given by Mrs. Haggitt.
The story of Ruth was read. "
The president Mrs. Robert
Slater took charge of the,
business session. The minutes
were adopted as read by the
secretary, Mrs. John Deer.
The treasurer, Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt gave the financial
statement.
Business was discussed and.
the rector, the Rev. Fred
Carson presided for the
election of officers.
The officers for 1977 are as
foPows: president, Mrs.
Robert Slater; secretary,
Mrs. John Daer; treasurer,
Mrs. Thomas Haggitt
organist, Mrs. Andrew Kirk-
connell; press reporter, Mrs:
James Towe.
• An auction was held and the
Rev. Fred Carson closed with
prayer. Lunch wasserved by
Mrs. Haggitt assisted by Mrs.
Donald Cartwright,

Gordon Powell is 'a patient
in .Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital following an
accident when he was injured
at work. .
the Auburn Librarian
announces that .the Library
will be closed on Saturday,
December 25 and JanuarY 1.
Everyone is invited to attend
the puppet show at 10 a.m. on
Friday, December 31 in the
Library rooms.

for the United Church
Women's General Christmas
meeting last Wednesday
afternoon.

members and guests Mrs.
John Armstrong -was con-
vener of the kitchen and after
singing Grace, a delicious
smorgasbord dinner was
enjoyed by all.
Fallowing the dinner all
participated ' in several
contests, one being a,musical
one in the song, A Partridge
in a Pear:Tree.

The offering was feceived
and dedicated. A pageant on
"LoNie came down-. at
Christmas" depicting the
Christmas • story , was
presented. Those taking part
were Mrs. Gerald McDowell
as Mary, Mrs, Maurice Bean
as Joseph, Mrs. Elliott Lapp,
Mrs. John Durnin and Mrs.
John Armstrong • as
shepherds, Mrs. Arnold Cook,
Mrs. Donald Haines and Mrs.
Thomas Jardin as wise men
and Mrs. Peter Verbeek,
stage settings. Readers were
Mrs. Oliver Anderson and
Mrs. Ernest Durnin who read
scripture passages and
poems in keeping with the
pageant story.
Mrs. Norman Wightman
was the pianist while several
Christmas carols were sung.

Chener last Saturday with Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Jardin, where
a family reunion was held.
Lyman Jardin of- Port
- Alberni, B.C. is spending the
holidays with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Jardin and
grandmother, Mrs. Elva.

Wayne Scott of Wawa is
holidaying with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Scott
and Mr. Eric Scott.

her gift and novelty store
recently and has many at-
tractive plaques, pottery,
pictures, etc. in -an attractive
setting. Her many gifts will
no doubt help you with your
