Hazardous conditions cause sev
Slippery driving conditions
that have prevailed in
Goderich for the past week
caused four minor accidents
and half a dozen wajors
according to the Goi'lerich
Police department. Police.

A vehicle belonging to
Flora Nabrotzky of
Teeswater sustained $380 on
December .7 when it was
struck by an unidentified car.
The damaged vehicle was left
parked and unattended on
North Street and the owner
returned to discover the
damage.
A collision between. two
trucks on December 8
resulted in $650 damage. Earl.

was driving east on St. David
Street approaching the yield
sign at the intersection at
Horton Street. Mr. Feagan,.
noticed a truck operated by
Douglas,Cooke of 218 Regent
Street proceeding on Horton
Street and put his brakes on
abut slid into the Cooke vehicle
causing $150 damage to his
truck and $500 to the Cooke
vehicle.
Berole Betties of 115, St.
David Street was proceeding
west . on Caledonia Terrace
near Waterloo Street when
she was involved in a
collision with a vehicle driven
by Gerald Vanstone of RR 2,
Goderich. Mr. Vanstone was
travelling north on Waterloo
when he attempted to turn.
onto Caledonia Terrace and
slid into the side of the Betties
vehicle, The -Betties vehicle
sustained $550 damage" and
Santa's my hero
the Vanstone vehicle $100.
Larry Smith of 56 Albert
Street in Goderich received
$300.damage to his car when
it struck Sherry Littlechild's
vehicle on Albert Street. The
Smith vehicle was proceeding
south on Albert Street and
slid into the intersection at
Picton Street striping the
Littlechild vehicle. Ms.
Littlechild, of 193 St. David
Street, received $450 damage
to her car.
Paul MacDougall of 155;
Trafalgar Street, in Goderich
received .$800 damage to his
car which was parked on ''hes
Square . Barry Eggleston of.
169 South Street was passing
the parked vehicle when his
car fishtailed and struck it.
The Eggleston vehicle
rsustained $200 damage.
Walter Lorenowicz of RR 4,
Goderich was backing his car
out of a driveway at 154
Gibbons Streetand had his
vision obscured by a snow
bank. Mr. Lowenowicz
didn't see' Joseph Morrissey'
of RR 5, Goderich travelling
on Gibbons Street and backed
into his car. The.Lorenowicz
vehicle .sustained $100
damage and the Morrissey
can, $300.
Bruce Unit One
not ftrled. yet
Unit one of the Bruce
Generating Station A didn't
go critical this weekend, as
planned according to Hydro
officials. .
Due to delays in finishing
tests on the reactor control
system, Unit one wasn't fired
up.
Ken Elston,. `operations
manager,said that the reactor
wasn't originally slated to
start up until today, (Wed-
nesday) anyway.
The reactor, once : it has
gone critical, could be
• producing .between 50 and 55.
megawatts of electricity after
the tests : have been com-
pleted. This could be boosted
up to 175 megawatts a few
week's after start-up. At press
time it was not known when
the unit would go critical.
Mr. Elston could not say
• when Ur:it one might be up to
fulloperating capacity, but
he did say that both Units one
and two, which was activated
in.July, should be. at 100 per

approval to Ontario Hydro,
Monday, to push Unit two of
Bruce. GSA up to 50 per cent
operating capacity.'
This will be increasing
electrical output from 178
megawatts to 400 megawatts
in the provincial electrical
grid as of 4 a.m. Tuesday.
