The Goderich Signal-Star, 1976-12-09, Page 30PAGE 20—OODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1976 The Nine Mile River at Port Albert has backed up and caused flooding in the low lying areas of the village. The Dear: Readers ..... (continued, from page 4) mystery, the description of the bright objects in the sky matches exactly What f saw from my vantage point on Britannia Road West on September 24. - I myself observed a bright silver or white "light" over the lake after a telephone call from an interested citizen. The "light" was due west of rr^» Goderich and seemed to hang in the sky, for a time, oc- casionally dipping quickly downwards toward the . lake and then streaking upwards again. It did move un- believably quickly and .n I'm convinced it was not a planet or a star. It was suggested what I observed might have been a weather balloon, and I haven't discarded that idea. But certainly, what I saw in the sky that evening was a strange object .... and with my imagination I can easily accept the premise that it may have been a flying saucer, a space ship carrying beings or equipment from another world. i h+ ° Justlast week I was wat- ching some late night television and saw Ruth Norman being interviewed by flooding is not uncommon in the area but is usually most severe in the spring. (staff photo) Larry Solway on Channel 11 Hamilton. I didn't see the start of the interview, so I'm not certain where Ms. Nor- man hags from although I believe it is somewhere in the southern United States. She claims to be the co- ordinator here on earth for the more than 30 planets in the universe. She states without reservation that space ships from- some or all of these -otherplanets will land on earth and make contact with earth people before the end of March 1977. According to Ms. Norman (and I found this most in- teresting in the light of recent happenings in, Huron County) spaceships have been allowing earthmen to sight them .in recent years so that people on this planet will w.. She says that if spacemen and their ships don't land on earth before March 1977, it will only be because the Association of Planets (or whatever it is called) is not convinced earth is ready to receive .thein in peace. Ms. Norman says the visitors from space will come in peace, to teach earthlings how to travel successfully to other planets, how to com- municate etc. She said lots of other fan- tastic things, too like the. fact that in a previous life she was Mary Magdalene and that her husband in this life,' Dr. Norman, was Jesus of Nazareth in a- previous existence. .She told Mr,. Royal _Bank_Block- Goderich __ Representatives of the•Ministry of the Environment arid Port Albert residents joined forces to, help alleviate flooding in the Port Albert area. The, stream created here has space ships many times at incredible speeds and that she'd been to Mars, where according to Ms. Norman, the whole civilization (?) is located beneath the surface of the planet - which is why the American probe craft did not observe any life form there. But that's not all. Just last week I was reminded again of the story of the captured spacecraft which is supposed to be in top secret quarters in the USA. This ship, ' complete with crew, : is reported to be pies vedLsomewhere in the mid -States where it is being studied 'by U.S. scientists. Weird, huh? Well, what's even more weird is the new story that scientists now believe that next summer (the summer of 1977) the position of the planets will be such that five of them will be lined up. The combined gravitational pull will draw unusually strong solar rays out .from the sun towards earth. According to my information, the minimal effect. vii11._be. an extremely Vthot' summer and an ex- ceptionally mild winter "in 1977 and 1978. The maximum effect could be the earth will be burned up and destroyed. Does that give you any food for thought? I thought it washed out half of a roadway that runs along the river area. Ask any science teacher _what they think=of this snowjob. He or she will tell you that to write a detailed guideline fora single. grade should take a minimum of six months. Mr. Wells . believes four grades can be done in less than two weeks. Ask any teacher what 'they, think of teaching the same material to all students. They will tell you that that is our reason for having technical schools, vocational schools, collegiates, etc. This allows us to developspecific science courses related directly to the students' needs. Mr. Wells cannot see this. Mr. Bell stated that- the guideline will probably be revised again in two years. Why not spend more time now and prepare one that will be useful for six or eight years. The present ,method is detrimental to the continuity of science teaching. Even more, it is a waste of tax- payers money. Mr. Wells has seen fit to have eight of the 11 com- mittee members from the Science Teachers Association of Ontario. Then, /when the guideline is a total failure, due to lack of preparation time, Mr. Wells can point his finger at the science' teachers and say it was their fault. ASK YOURSELF ,THIS. IS MR. Yours sincerely, Ms. D. Bertrand Scarborough World peace Dear Editor: What stands in the way of world peace? Try as they might, the people of the world have been unable to achieve genuine peace. . Why? Informed men, as early as 1973, are beginning to view world religions as an obstacle to peace. The Daily Oklahoman, of August 8, 1973, carried an article by 'John Chamberlain, editorial commentator for the King Features Syndicate, calling attention to - the ("hurdles' interfering in politics, they're even going so "That' same attitude brought a rising spiral of violence and fear, of riots and arson and bombings, all in the name of peace and in., the name of justice." Actually the Bible says that the true,Christian should stay out of ` politics completely being totally neutral, and should proclaim the Kingdom. of God under Christ Jesus as the one hope for 'peace and security: But, instead, world religion, particularly the churches of Christendom, has meddled in politics, has taken. sides in national disputes, and has misrepresented Almighty God. All this may unpalatable at this particular season, but I remember that, not so long ago, your paper published a "quote from Benjamin Franklin (July 6, 1972) :. ''`If all printers were determined not to print anything till they' were sure it would offend no one, .there would be very little printed." In all sincerity C.F. Barney.
