The Health Units and their
nurses have yet to come to an
agreement in a dispute which
has been going on for more
than,a year.
According to Ms. Boyd the
main difficulty in . the
negotiations is a refusal on_
the part pf the Health Boards
in question to allow the
nurses compulsory ar-
bitration in all contract
dw;putes.
Nurses at the five area

Across Ontario there are 29
areas where contracts have
not been settled.
The nurses are continuing
to work ,.under the terms of

Health Nurses earn starting
rates of between $9,000 and
$12,000 annually, under that
contract while ONA nurses in
hospitals begin in the range of
$13,380 to $14,820.
