Live at, lakeside
Amidst the lovely setting of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church, Clinton, Lynda Lorraine, only daughter of Mr:.
and Mrs. Wm. F. Cook, Catherine St. Goderich, and
Ronald Robert, elder son of Mr, and Mrs. Donald P. King
of Lakeside,. exchanged their marriage vows in a double .
ringcerempny conducted by the Rev. G. Lockhart Royal
• of Goderich, on October 30 at 4:00 p.m.
Candelabra entwined With white carnations, burgundy
gladioli and streamers of white and burgundy, enhanced
the decor of the church. White satin ribbon and gauze
bows decorated the guestpews.
Entering the church to the tune of Largo by Handel, the
bride was radiant in a gown which she designed and
created. The floor -length dress of satin and Venetian lace
had an empire waistline, lace bodice with a rounded
neckline, lace sleeves gathered into cuffs, and�a-
detachable long lace train. This was accentuated -by a
fingertip -length veil of white tulle attached to a -headband
of satin and seed pearl flowers. Her flowers were pink
sweetheart roses, miniature • white carnations and.
burgundy straw flowers, centered with a pink ruby -
throated orchid. Fern and pink ribbon completed the
arrangement.
The maid of honour was Miss Pamela Shanks of
London. The bridesmaids were Miss Heather Urquhart
of Toronto and Miss Joan King, Lakeside, sister of the
groom. They were identically' gowned in long sleeved
• blouses of cream-coloured jersey with matching scarves
and long • burgundy velvet skirts. Their flowers were
nosegays of •miniature pink carnations, burgundy-
strawflowers, fern and pink ribbon.
The groom was attended by his brother, James King of
Lakeside as best man. The guests were ushered by Alan
Cook, only brother of the bride', of Goderich, and Douglas
Gregory of Lakeside. They all wore black tuxedos, white
shirts with ruffles edged in burgundy and pink carnations
as boutonnieres. -
The bride'was given in marriage by her father. During
the signing of the register, traditional favourite wedding
tunes of the bride were played by the organist, Charles
Merrill of Clinton. '
The wedding. dinner was served in the •church parlor
-.__aiid._-catered. to_-b_y-.-the --Madela=i-ne- Lane -Auxiliary. The
tables were decorated with pink candles set in crystal
holders and surrounded by myrtle. Mr. James Dougall,
cousin .of the bride was the master of Ceremonies. Frank
Mutch of Clinton, uncle of the bride, was asked to give the
.blessing.
The guests were greeted by the bride's mother, gowned
in a floor -length dress of shrimp -coloured jersey with
flowing chiffon sleeves and a corsage of miniature
starburst carnations. The groom's mother was -gowned in
a floor -length dress of aqua• polyester which was
gathered into soft folds at the midriff with elbow length
sleeves. Her 'gown was completed by a corsage of '
miniature red roses. .
An evening reception followed at the bride's home :in
Goderich. For travelling, the bride wore a cocoa -brown
.gabardine dress with loose elbow length sleeves,'self-
belt, an A-line skirt and a co-ordinating brown printed
silk scarf. Her corsage was of miniature Talisman roses.
Dark brown accessories completed the ensemble.
„The bride was honored with several showers prior to'
her •wedding. Her coilegues at the Hospital for Sick
Children in Toronto, held a shower at the .apartment of
Miss Heather Urquhart: A family shower was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. James Dougall of Exeter. Mrs.
Lyle Pinkney and Mrs. George Smith of Goderich en-'
tertained_the hrirdP's former nelghbo>>-. o: t-�-* shower at
the Pinkney come, .
The rehearsal party was given by the groom's parents
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mutch of Clinton.
' Guests at the wedding were present from Toronto,
Waterloo, London, Dorchester, St.:Marys, Granton,
Exeter, Staffa, Uniondale, Woodstock, Medina,
Lakeside, Clinton and Goderich. • . .
After a honeymoon trip to Pennsylvannia the happy
couple are now residing at RR '1, Lakeside. A large
reception and dance was held at the Lakeside Pavilion'
after their return to the neighbourhood.

Hall on Wednesday,

Pat Hamilton acted as
chairperson and introduced
the candidates. E'ch person
'was allowed an introductory
'speech for three minutes.
This was followed by an open
discussion.
It. was a wonde ful op-
portunity to see the CCuncil in
action. I don't feel that I'm in
a position' to report detailed
rninrites' of the meeting,' "so
I've• summed up the mor-
ning's discussion this way:

candidates. What does the

Arena funds are nearing
their goal. Mistakes were
made, in the past, but we
must put that behind us and
assure our: children of the
finest recreational ac-
commodations possible:

New industrial
development for Goderich?
Some candidates feel it was
essential, while others
debated the proposal. (At
this point in the meeting we
noted a rise in temperature
throughout the hall ! ! )

open council meetings. If
you are concerned about
the way our community is
being governed - why not,
participate.
Industrial storm drain is
a costly necessity' before an
Industrial Park can be
further developed:

Driving on certainroads
is a hazardous risk. What
are the plans for filling those
potholes?!.! Nobody has any
definite comments on this
subject. Looks like we'll just
have "to -buckle up and get
accustomed to these bumpy
roads.
A
Arena (groan again!) will
be available for Young
Canada Week. We all felt
that this event belonged to
Goderich, and if we lost it
this year,we might as well
say goodbye to a tradition.

three new members
Last Friday three girls,
Lori Hassel, Bev Dalton, and
Jane Carter, were declared
official C.G.I.T. members.
They were eachpresented
with a pin and a purpose card.
The girls served supper for
the St. Andrews Choir from
Stratford on November 21 and,
at present are busy selling
1977 church calendars.
The C.G.I.T. group from
North Street Church and the
C.G.I.T. group from Knox
Presbyterian Church will be
presenting a Candlelight
Vesper Service in North
Street Church at 7:00 p.m. on
December 12. They will be
assisted ;by the Junior Choir
and the Explorer group from
North Street Church and
several Scout members will
take part as well.
IODE welcomes
new citizens

Canadian citizens in a
reception following
citizenship court last
Wednesday.
The new Canadian citizens

Service to . Patients
Chairman, Edna Stephens,.
reported the -recent visit of
Mrs. Buskard, • Service to
Patients Co -Ordinator for the
District of Southwestern
Ontario, one of many visits
made by Mrs. Buskard.
.throughout the area. The
purpose of the visitation is to
clear up problems and to add
enthusiasm to the Service to
Patients program.
Vice-ch.a.irman of
Education, John McKibbon,
spoke briefly of the Ontario
Division Cancer Education
Conference -which her at-
tended at the Prince Hotel
Toronto in October. The
emphasis at .this conference

new industries can be .
established in Goderich.
