specific programs and

would provide added ex-
pertise and assistance in
developing programs.
The application for the
grant explains how it will be
spent: Leadership ('Co-
ordinator, trained in com-
munity affairs, perhaps a
student in such a course at•
University) part-time
salaries and wages, $6,000,
as it is the only place in'
Dublin where meetings can
be held. She said that the
various groups meeting in the
school have formed the 12 -
member Dublin Community
Council , with Ronald
Ferguson as president.
. Sister Florence. listed the =
member groups as,: the
Dublin Athletic Association,
Dublin Lions Club, Women's
Institute, Catholic Women's
League of St. Patrick's
Church, St. Patrick's Parish._
Council, Dublin Diamonds
(the senior citizens club),
Parent-Teacher Association
of St. Patrick's School. She
said Francis Hicknell, a
school board member, and
Herb Brown of the Hibbert
Township Council were on the
council as well, and she is a
member too.
William Eckert, superin-
tendent of program., for the
'school board and Jack Lane,.
superintendent of business
and finance for the school
board, have acted as advisers.
to the council as the ap-
plication for the Community
School .Development grant
was prepared for submission
to the ministry of community
services.
Jack Lane told the trustees
that the grant will only be
given to a school board and
the grant will come to the
board, -but will be ad-
ministrated by the Com-
munity Council. He said the
Council will receive'bnly. that
portion of the $10,000 that it
spends. and he will be paying
the accounts as submitted, to
him by the council. He said he
is expected to be responsible
for policing the grant as the
board must guarantee that
the expenditures are in ac-
cordance•with the terms laid
down in the application for
the. money,
Mr. Eckert described the
proposed program or service
offered by the Community
Council in its- application
form: To pick up the
framework of the established'
Community Council and its
affiliated organizations; to
expand and co-ordinate the
activities of all groups. To
Work, closely with the school
for use of .facilities and plan •
after schooI and _ evening
programs for all age groups.
To help members of the
Community to a greater
identity in preparation for the
100th anniversary of Dublin in
1978.
To survey the needs and
interests of Dublin and
District to ascertain how
these needs be best met.
To hire a Community
School. Co-ordinator to
establish the above on a self
support basis.
Mr. Eckert said the ap-
plication .for the grant call's
for the hiring of the Com-
munity School Co-ordinator
who would work closely with
the Council and allffiliated
groups, especially the school
principal and staff/to set up
programs that facilitate. the
use of the school and co-
ordinates the needs of all
organizations who use it.
(The Community Council,
formed about two years ago,
has had the benefit of School
Board approval for use of the
school for past two years by
these organizations meeting
at the school. Board policy
permits certain groups to use
alhschools in the system at no
cost to the group with the
board providing the facilities,
including water, hydro, heat
and sChodtequiptnent.
The - Co-ordinator would
work with. the Council to
develop and conduct a needs
survey in February, 1977, and
an evaluation survey in
December 1977. He would
train volunteer members of
the Council to initiate,

was informed by the Ministry
that if the grant.is approved

In other business, the board
increased the hourly wage
paid to the board attendance
office, William Innes of
Stratford, from $4.50 to $55 per
hour from September, 1976, to
August, 1977.
Edward
Rowland;
superintendent of main-
tenancefor the board, is to be
given the maximum com-
pensation package increase
of $1000.85 for salary and $120
increase in fringe benefits, as
permitted by Anti-inflation
Board, for the calendar year
1977- raising his salary to
about $14,025.
William Eckert said the ad
hoc committee of Trustees
John O'Drowsky and Michael
Connolly; Director of
Education, John Vintar, and
the Dean of the Huron -Perth
Deanery, will be interviewing
candidates , for Co-ordinator
of the Family Life Program
next week: Hesaid several
had applied but only two had
Family Life training. ,
Still, concerned about the
number of Catholics having
their assessment directed to
the public,. school- system,
rather than the separate
school system, it was
suggested that it be put on the
agenda for the new board in
January to name a com-
mittee to look into the
situation.
Joseph Looby of Dublin
said it would pay to put a man

during the year, to .deal with
it, "We should have one man
on top of that all the time, it
takes a lot of work."
Ron Marcy of Stratford
said that following the check-
up in Stratford this fall 26
owners in Stratford changed -
their assessment to separate
school, about 10 percen t, he
estimated.
Vincent Lane said he knew
there were people in, 4
who would support the
separate school system if
they were contacted, who now
are permitting their
assessment to go to the public
schools.
Gregory Fleming, Ronald
Marcy and William Eckert
reported on, the conference
they attended sponsored by
the Federation of Catholic
Parent-Teacher Association
which they all found to be
educational and interesting.
