notched a hat trick in the last
half•of the game..
In the opening period with
Steye Cook in the penalty box,
Jamie Thompson opened the
scoring on a solo effort only to
have the' Cyclones tie it up a
minute later.
Speedy centreman..Ken
Robinson regained Clinton's
.one goal read early in the
period and both teams played
defensive, hockey for the
remainder of the, opening
stanza.
In the second period, with
six minutes remaining to
play, McLean got his first of

the. Cyclones pulled to within
one goal again and the teams"

holding a slim one goal lead.
At the drop of the puck in
the third period the Stangs
started to fly and 22 seconds
later Dave Watt notched the
eventual winner: •
The Stangs from this point

and !ave Watt received his

Listowel received a power

Friday night's game.
The Mustangs, over the
first twoIeriods looked like
they were taut public skating,
because th y skated around
in circles: They passed the
puck poorly, they received
the attempted passes even
worse-. and they forgot t
backcheck against a fast
skating New Hamburg club
and as a result' they 'were
outscored 4-0.•
. -Clinton 'goaltender Mark
Nelson played extremely well
over the first two periods
kicking out 23 of 27 ,New
Hamburg shots. -
When the'third. period
started and New Hamburg
players and -management
already had the victory
counted, the Mustangs -came
to life. Randy Millar got the
Stangs started and Robbie
Heard pulled the. Stangs to
• within two goals of the Hahns.
Not tote outdone the Hahns
came right back and notched
two more goals before Clinton
coach Bill Weber shook up his
lines a little and left a line
sitting • on the bench, thus
finishing the game with just
two lines.
With the Hahns__holding •a
four goal lead and only five
minutes of play remaining in
the game the Stangs
proceeded to dominate as
Dori Grandson -and Tim
McLean scored back -to back
goalsat the 16 and 17 minute
mark.
. At the 18•minute mark New
Hamburg's Steye May
•
received a hooking penalty -
and it took Jamie Thompson
only 35 seconds to bang in a
power play' goal and pull the
Mustangs to within one goal.
One minute later with the
Hahns bottledup in their own
end and the Clinton net empty
for an extra attacher Steve
Cook won ' the face-off \and
Robbie Heard banged in
Jamie Thompsonis rebound'
in a goal mouth scramble to
tie the game at 6-6.
'Ironically with only tear-
seconds. left to play in the
game•the -Stangs had a last
ditch effort to win the game
only to have an errant shot
miss the open side of the net.
Had . the Mustangs played
