The Lords gave_up the ball '. ive times inside their own 25 yard line but their strong defence kept the Vikings off the • scoreboard. As 'in the senior Vikings • game in Exeter, the smaller Vikings found the poor field conditions . worked to.' their disadvantage. Kevin Konings, the Lords hard running fullback, was the bread and butter of the Listowel offence, running up the middle with great "suc- cess. Hebroke two long runs for touchdowns. In the first quarter,. Konnings went 70 yards, and in the third ,quarter rambled 80 yards for the game's only two touch- downs. Other Listowel points came from a 25 yard single kicked by: John. Kerr in the first quarter and a two :point conversion of their secorid touchdown on a pass froth quarterback John Wilson to John Stone. •Viking coach Bill Carrow was not discouraged by the loss, and credited his team with "a 'commendable ef- fort". He commented On the effective job his defensive line and linebackers did through.. most of the game in containing , the strong Listowel running attack. The junior Vikings had many young , players this season whear showed., dedication and a willingness to learn which -the Viking coaches feel Will put, them in good stead for next season.
