referred to the 1977 council.
However, strong feeling at
this week's council meeting
turned back that recom-
mendation.

Councillor Gower explained

According to Peters, the
land was valuable as a
commercial and recreational
site and in any case,.should be
under the control of the town.
Councillor Bob Allen said it

Agricultural Park.
A letter to council from
Greg Hanson of the Industrial
Softball Association pointed
out that in the summer.
months, there is no dispute
concerning infield parking.
However in the months' of
September and october when
the,' weather is, often cooler
and less comfortable for fans,
cars on the infield are
desirable.
Councillor Allen said `a
municipal bylaw is necessary
to give the town some control.

he had asked the ball plaYers

Re: Snow Removal
The first snow has fallen and we can expect much more, ,
When snow has fallen the -.citizens expect our works depart-
ment
epart ment to ".remove it in order that they, the citizens, can drive•
around the town The works department creWs cannot ef-
fectively clear a street if even one vehicle has been left there,
The snowplow has to go around the vehicle thus: -leaving a pile°
of snow to obstruct traffic using the area. On somepof the.
more narrow, streets this constitutes a major obstructionfor °
traffic. it•also, means that extra money hasto be spent for the
plow to return later and clear the offending pile.
Motorists, will leave their vehicles on the street with the
excuse that their driveway is blocked with snow. The onus is
on the owner of the driveway to clear fiis-her driveway, at
least enough to get his vehicle (s) off the street; and as soon
as possible. itis a. misconception for the offending motorist to
think he is the only' one affected by the non -removal of snow
in front of his home (caused by him having hisvehicle
parked there) as the neighbourhood and passing traffic are
equally affected by his,] ct ons.All citizens are warned that -it is an offense under' the High-
way Traffic Act to leave any vehicle on a street in such a
manner as to interfere with snow removal. Persons are
advised to park off the streets in snowy weather so as to •avoid
becoming a problem. Under the:highway-traffic act not only
is there a penalty but Offending vehicles will In towed away
at the owner's expense if the owner cannot be readily con-
tacted to remove the vehicle immediately.. This warning is
given` in the best interests of all road users so as to ensure
prompt and effective snow removal. •
