Bill Bogie• Goderich peewees split weekend games The Goderich Peewee All - Stars split two WOAA league games' last weekend as they were 5 edged by Kincardine Friday and rebounded to down -Port Elgin Sunday. Kincardine scored three goals in the third period Friday night to erase a Goderich lead and win 5-4. Goderich led 4-2 after two periods before the Kincardine outburst. Goderich added their final goal, with less than a minute remaining in the game. Darrell Graham' led. the Goderich attack with two ' goals and an assist while Joey Morrissey and Dennis ,Kerr added singles. ' Paul Emmerton and Mike Price scored two goals each for Kincardine while Bruce Murray added a single. The peewees. untracked their offense Sunday as they hammered Port Elgin •11-4., Goderich scored eight straight goals before Port Elgin tallied late in ` the. second period. Each team added two goals while Darrell Graham, Colin Alexander, Dave Gallow, Brad Arm- strong and Tom Smith added singles. came to the aid of his team the Bowling Rollers to total them 5 points by achieving 'a high single of 310. The, uncertainty of just when the Goderich Arena will re -open is causing difficulties for the local Lions Cfub and its plans for the annual Young Canada Week hockey tour- nament.. However, at- its meeting last week, the club agreed to commit itself .to the tournament:. No final decisionhas _been made, but the , club is arranging to book the ice - time necessary at the Clinton arena should' the local facilities not be ready in time. Organizer Bill Stanbury stressed, however, that if the Goderich arena repairs were completed in time for the tournament, it would be held in Goderich'. The tournament is set to get underway on Friday, March. 18 and continue through to Saturday, March 27 with only Sunday, March 20 as an off day. John Henry scored for Listowel late in the third period after Goderich had taken a 21 0 lead. club news o Electrics thump: Listowel Graham Electric Novice All-stars won their second game in as many starts last Saturday when they defeated Listowel 10-1. ' David Jewell was in high gear as he notched six of the goals, the first at the . 48 second . mark of the first period to get the team off to a good . start. Scott Garrow gained his first all-star hat trick and Kevin Telford's'first goal of the season rounded out the scoring. Todd Jeffrey led the assist department with two, Singles went to Darien Connolly and Kevin Talbot. For the second game in a row, the Electrics had all. three lines forechecking and backchecking well, combined with strong defensive ,pairings kept the `Listowel team from getting too many scoring chances. 10-1 Jeffrey, Steve Schutz; Jewell, Garrow, and Kevin Talbot shared thea penalty killing duties. • - If ' the Electrics can keep. this type of two-way hockey along with some improved positional play; they will make a very good account of themselves this season. • BY RON KLAGES • Men's Friday night was a terrific success with seventy- three .
