Algosea christened at Port Colborne The M -V Algosea, Algoma Central Railway's latest self - unloading • dry bulk carrier, was christened October 19 in i•Por"t 'Colborne. The 26,000 ton ship ,has been undergoing conversion to •a self-unloader at Herb Fraser • & Associates Limited, an Algoma Central subsidiary. • The M -V Algosea, built hi 1970, was purchased . by 'Algoma Central Railwaylast year and • 'underwent lengthening to its present 642 feet in the United Kingdom before being deliv'red to Port Colborne in April. The ship . will be in operation in early November and will be trading in Great , Lakes, St. Lawrence River and ocean service. Algoma Central Railway, Marine Division, has a fleet of ten dry carriers, six of which . have self -unloading Capability. • The 1VI-V A:igosea is'the first ship to have world-wide trading potential.
