Garden Party set for Jubilee Year

delightful letter from our
adopted child of Korea. Jang'
Choen Sim told of her
progress in schooland her joy
inlayinga connection with
Canadian.people: It was
'decided to send' Choon Sim a
Christmas gift.
Mrs. Smith also had , on
display some of the articles
which will be sent in the bale..

the beautifully knitted',baby
Jody Aileen Cox, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. William
' Cox, Goderich,. and John Robert Hoy, son of Mr. and Mrs. -
. Cliff Hoy, also of Goderich, exchanged vows and .rings
Saturday, •Septernber 18 before the Rev,. James Reddoch
in St. Andrew's United Church,,Bayfield.
- Doug Fisher presided at the organ and •aecompanied
• the soloist Bryan Hoy who sang "Walk Hand in Hand"
and "I'•11 Walk in the Rain by Your Side".
. The bride was given in 'marriage by her father..She
wore a white empire -waisted gown of polyester crepe
featuring long sleeves and a high neckline. The sleeves,
neckline and bodice front were' accented. with guipure
lace. A redingote fell from the bride's shoulders at back,
and swept into' a chapel -length. train. A headpiece of
roses held her chapel -length train and she carried a
. colonial bouquet of yellow roses, white miniature car-
nations, stephanotis, green baby's Math and trailing
myrtle. •
Maid of honor was'Brenda Fisher, friend of the bride,
Goderich. She chose a'mint green polyester jersey floor-
length gown=With capelet sleeves. She carried a colonial *
bouquet of yellow miniature carnations, stephanotis;
green baby's breath and trailing white ribbon streamers.
. Three bridesmaids were• gowned identically to .ttie.:
Maid of honor. They. were Miss Wanda Million, friend of
the b'ride,` Auburn; Miss Linda Jefferson, friend of the
bride;.Toronto; and. Mrs. Mary Rivett, friend of the
bride, Goderich. '
Groomsman was Dave Million, friend of the groom,
Goderich..•Ushers were Jerry Rivett, a friend, Goderich;
John Cox, brother of the bride, Hills_burg; 'and, Jim
Manderson, a friend, Goderich,
The • wedding reception was in. the Royal Canadian
Legion Hall where ' the bride's mother received her .
guestsin a formal -length gown With a flowered taffet
skirt and a .powder bluechiffon bodice. She wore a cor-
sage of , white' roses. The groom's mother selected a
formal -length :autumnnose gown of silk guiana with a
corsage of white roses.
The couple spent their honeymoon in. Florida; . the
'bride's going -away :ensemble was a ,three-piece co-
ordinate
black pantsuit with a corsage of red roses.
They are living in Goderich. '
The -bride was •the guest o£ honor at 'several showers.
Mrs. Ernma.Cox, Bayfield, entertained at a shower for
her niece; a shower was hosted by ladies of St. Andrew's
United Church; a community shower was hosted by Mrs:
Muriel Lockhart; a kitchen shower v is hosted by Mary
Rivett and Colleen Straughan; a shower party was
hosted, by Brenda Fisher -for friends; and a Jack and Jill
shower was'hosted by Doug and Joy Fisher for friends of
the bride and groom. _

Mrs. G. Smith, • Education
Secretary, reported that the
Regent had presented `"the
Canadian Studies awards at
the GDCI Commencement to
Jane Eichholz,. Grade • 9,
$50.00 and in Grade? 10,
Donald, Coughlin and Mar-
jorie deBoer shared ,.the
award.
It was reported:•by Mrs.
Herb Murphy of the Ways and
Means Committee, that plans
have been formulated for an
evening Garden Party
(Thursday) June 2, 1977 to'
help celebrate the Town's
150th Anniversary. To
commemorate. the Silver
Jubilee of Her ' Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth' II the
Chapter hopes to have al; the
garden party a display of a
replica -of. the Crown Jewels.
Mrs. Murphy also reported
that the': Chapter had decided
to donate. $200* to the' arena"
fund at this .time.
Mrs. 'Peter, Strickland gave
a stirring plea to the mem-
bers to assist In a'program to .
be 'set up to aid a`1oca1 child •
suffering from cerebral
palsey. This was seriously
considered by the members.

At the conclusion of the
meeting coffee was served by
the lunch committee, Mrs. F.
Flobbs 'and Mrs. F. Durst.,

about the Quaker faith

Women met at: the home of
Mrs. -Ernest Snowden for
their October meeting. Mrs.
Ray Hanna and Mrs. Stuart
Chamney were in charge with
the theme "Thinking and•
Thanking". •
Mrs: Stuart Chamney led in
prayer and Mrs'. Ray Hanna,
read the scripture from
Psalms followed by the
daughter meditation. Mrs. Otto Weber
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
McDougall, Blyth, graduated
from Mohawk College, School
of ,. Nursing,, Hamilton, on
Friday, October 1. Diane is
