When we were relocated in

were not many bornes listed

continuing on into autumn,
"For Sale" signs appeared on
front yards all over town,

explain the. reasons for the
increase in listings. Rita is a

Also, the idea of people
tracking snow, and slush
through the house is a valid
enough reason to hold off that
listing until spring.

there are. four basic reasons
for moving: •

you aware of the context of all
that "small print."
It's quite obvious ' to
,, everyone that Real; Estate
has not been able to escape
the blows of inflation'. The
average cjown payment on
today's house . would have
been the purchase price of a
house fifteen years ago.
Rita- Allen 'says that the
increase of property value is
1. A transfer 4rwith, your
company. (I can see all the

smiling - maybe smirking !.)
2. An increase of family size
(possibly repeated .:visits
from the stork, or a never-
ending visit from a relative)
3. A decrease of family
members (young ones leave
the home in search of a place
of their own.)
4. An increase in income
(an unexpected raise in pay
or maybe a Wintario •wind-
fall!)
Whatever the. cause of your
move, 'keep .in • mind that
buying a house is serious

you're certain that the house

• That dream house o e you want
to purchase could become a
nightmare if you don't
•carefully consider the
following:
1. Are there enough rooms?
2. Are the size of the rooms,
adequate for your needs?
3. Is there sufficient storage
space?
4.. Is there plentiful wall
space for your furnishings?
5. Is the exterior structure
in sound condition? '
6, Is there evidence of dry
rot or mould in the cellar?
7. Are window frames in
sound condition; or do they
show signs of rot. '
Are the wiring, heating and
plumbing systenns. in
satisfactory working order?
Any renovations you plan
on making will be ' costly.,
Perhaps that -elegant, old
