When Mr.. Merchant opened his shop in
the Goderich area,.
' his name meant little to localresidents...
it brought no particular image -to mind.
• But Mr. Merchant was prepared to cope
.with this. He had studied the area
thoroughly before opening his shop. He.
knew his potential customers wanted
quality, excellent service, and honesty; he
was the sort of fellow who would -never
give' less. He knew, too, that he could
build his image and reach hispotential
customers in the Goderich
area through- The Goderich Signal -Star, the
hometown newspaper. He started by adver-
tising his Grand Opening in The
Goderich .Signal -Star.
• As his .business .grew, he
strengthened his advertising, program so
' that . his regular .customers (and potential°
customers who` i,ere new to•..the_..area)
would alitays know. what Mr. Merchant
was, featuring. • Today, his image
is that of a fine person, an honest
businessman._ And it's an . image that
grows each .week -Leach time Mr.
.Merchant's display. ad appears in
The, Goderich Signal -Star.
