previously unbeaten Goderich Jr. Vikings Thursday in Listowel 17-7,. Vikings held a'7-6
edge at half time, but the Listowel offense was too much for there in the second half. Here

lost their first game, after
having won , their first t vo
starts in Huron -Perth Con-
- ference action, dropping a 15 -
7 decision to Listowel last
Thursday in Listowel.
The victory`. left Listowel
undefeated with •a record of 3 -
0, tied for first place with the
Norwell Redmen who have'
also won their .fir'st three
starts. 'The Vikings, if they
are 'to challenge for first
place, need a big game here
today against the Redmen.
Game time is 2.p.m.
. After an evenly played first
quarter, in which neither
team was able to score, the
Vikings moved ahead of
Listowel •.with a second
quarter touchdown on a 17
yard sweep by fullback
Dennis Donnelly,; who was
sprung loose bya bl'ock by
offensive guard Larry
Madge. Donnelly was : the
Vikings' outstanding of-
fensive player, rushing for a.
total of 140 yards.

The Vikings .,had another
touchdown called back in the
second quarter .on a. penalty,
but got a single point on a
wide :field goal attempt by
Eric Mitchell, to hold a 7 - 0
half-time lead,

The GDCI- senior girls'
basketball 'team has an even
record of two wins and two
losses in Huron -Perth Con-
ference action,following to
pair of games last week. The
girls won here Tuesday, 34-32,
over Stratford Northwestern
but lost Thursday, 40-31, to
Central Htiron in .Clinton.
Betty Sowerby, Judy
Cruirlishahk.and Karen Pond
each had eight pdints for
coach Donna Doidge's squad.
Anne Marie Murphy added
six points while Ai,tdrey
Vandenheuval and Lori
Keller had two points each for
the winners.
Lori Parker, with 18 points,
. was the offensive' star for
„Northwestern,
The GDCI girls led 20-15 at
halftime, but saw their lead
dwindle in' the :second half
after an injury to Lori Keller,
a key member of the GDCI
team.

'basketball team upped their

ference play with a pair of
victories last week.

defeated Stratford Nor-
thwestern here Tuesday by a
- 30-14 score • and then beat
Central Huron in Clinton
• Thursday, 36-19.

touchdowns and then threw to

dominated the third quarter,
outgaining the Vikings 115
yards to 16. __
„ The Vikings moved the ball
effectively in the final
quarter, picking upa total of
91 yards, compared to
Listowel's -25 . yards gained;
but were unable to score.
Viking coaches Bill Garrow
and Bruce Baker were not
happy with the 'Vikings'
defensive effort against
Listowel and, have been
working on improvements in
it, 'in an effort to prepare for
the league's top offensive
power, today's visitors 'from
Norwell.
The GDCI girls came up
with a strong team effort
against Northwestern, with.
six players: sharing in the
scoring; Sandra Rowe, with.
nine points, Denise Mit-
* -chelmore, with • eight, and
Karen Melady, with seven,
were the top offensive
producers. • Heidi. Elliott,
Sharon Fisher' and Jenny
More each contributed two

Ka en Melady played a
strong two-way game for
GDCI, and, although she did
not figure in the scoring, Pam
Lambert gave• a strong
performance for Goderich.

thwest'ern 23-8 at halftime.
The Goderich' -juniors
likewise had little trouble.

20-6 at the half. Coach Geiger
was able to use his non-
starters in the second half,
giving them a chance to gain
game experience. They
outscored Central Huron. 16-13
in the second half.
Pam Lambert hit the
