Not so.:. Yoh -can invite the folks you wa,nt as - guests but the others,, wilt have accommodation and will enjoy meeting; theirold friends, so don't be worried t about hurting any feelings, Let US invite them - you just enjoy them, We hope each organization - men's and women's - will go back to their old files and come up with a lot of names, We know the kids at GDCI are already going thru their old Year. Books. Every' organization and club must have some records. PLEASE get into them! • School teachers tired or .retired • could you = or have ypu records that might be checked for children who are no longer here - you'd have the' parents'.. name with. them wouldn't you?. o Secretaries of Clubs, Organizations, Lodges and Groups - could each of you see that someone digs.up names and addresses? This is a•lot of. • work - but if each group would take care of its own, it will help a lot. I started writing down namesof groups but had to quit for -there are so. • many. If everyone co- operates We should have. - several thousand names, eh? Now that is only the • beginning. Once- we getthe, names = we must find .ad- ' dresses = for. "some probably then we need •volunteers to .sort them out - alphabetically so that we send only one in- vitation per family - must ° think of postal costs, mustn't we? I can see where we will .• need a bulletin board where :names needing recent ad- dresses could be posted - where people , might read • them and -come up with these addresses.. • Remember theold Bulletin Board at Guy . Emerson's Drug Store at the corner of - • West St. .and The Square? That was a great meeting . spot as everyone stopped to read it. Perhaps we might 'still have, a bulletin: board at.that same . corner — does that' give the • coti-a-Bank an• idem Perliaps not,but it would Ge nice. .. If you have anyeitiens, ret us hear them: Drop a;note•.i.•n at.;t'' the Signal -Star;, Worsell5' ,*' Hardware Store or Camp- -belt's -Drug---Store-- on - - The Square; or at the Rec. There will be folks from the surrounding areas who knew Goderich well that might also like to hear of our Jubilee Celebration --and believe me it will. be .a celebration. Come -. Home Week -starts lune 29 to ' July 40;- but -there will be a great deal of activity all summer: - Actually there should be happenings all year long such as :those of 1967 when all the groups came forward so brilliantly, , This 1.50'•year of the foun- .ding of the Port of Goderich should be even greater than the 1967 one - it is 'up to all of us: In speakingto folks - so manyhave used a negative. • attitude and it hurts Me. As " one remark made to the press a few years ago - „'You have to feed them,Ar give them a freebee :to gepeople in this town to do anything" I. hope is not true to a/. Lord knows what they will try to do to this big celebration to dampen it. We have ,•°"so many newcomers .here POW who also despise' this negativ'e attitude. 'Tho only here a few rears, they are, doing more for' our town than the aqm- plainers ever did. I'm sure with their .. help:, our celebrations will be, just GREAT. Have ypu noticed all'lhe beard growing that is started - some well underway? You can still join the group - go to Mike and Ray's Barber Shop for a clean shave check, then grow, grow, grow! There, are nice 'prizes for the cotest .- women ex- cluded! This alone will raise interest in the Community A great booster,'- John marsh is is loaning .a log cabin for .The Square-- all -we're asking you for is.a little sweat • and blood to get the spirit of the Jubilee worked' up: We. won't be around for the next 150. Good Going! " See what you can come up with - come out tb the meetings when scheduled, and put the Port of Goderich smack back on the map. You now know people in charge of different phases of this big undertaking, so stand, beside them and let's get the job done. a Love - Martha P.S.. Check the Bulletin • Board for goings on.
