For several -weeks we have been debating the question and as yet we have not been able to reach a satisfactory conclusion A few months ago it seemed that the only coarse open for weekly publishers was to inorease their subsr•ription rate! to' $2.00 and nxany weeklies have already done so. We had practically decided to fall in line. Since then there has been a weakening in the prices of many commodities and It looks as if the peak of high prices' has been teaehed. liowec'er there is a difference of opinion as to the paper market. The manufacturers have intimated that. there will be a further increase in the price of paper at the beginning of the new year. Onthe other hand it is predicted that paper prices will decline, Instead of increasing our subscription rates we sire making an appeal to our subscribers to renew their subscrip- tions as promptly as possible and thus assist us to tide ever until such tithe as the costs of producing a newspaper are easier.
