A despatch from Ottawa, says that
although no official announcement
has yet been made, ft is understood
that the formal orders -in -council sus-
pending the Scott Act in.the Counties
of Huron and Perth, in accordance
with the wishes •of the majority of
the people were passed by the Cab-
inet Council on Nov. 12. The or-
ders -in -Council have yet to be signed
by the governor-general.
GETTING READY FOR HOCKEY

The menit'ers of the Exeter Zurich
Hockey Club met at Boyle's barber
shop on Tuesday evening for the pur-
pose of devising ways and means of
raising money to finance the hockey
season of 1920.21. After discussion.
it was resolved to ask those taking
part in "Facing the Music" to put the
play on in Hensall on Dee. 2nd. It
was suggested that further money be
rafted by popular subscriptions and
Messrs, Boyle, Idarness and. Senior
were appointed to ogre for this mat-
ter. On Nev. 24th and 25111, Tom
Marks Stock Co. will give two vaude-
ville plays under the auspices of the,
hockey club. l,'essrs, Royle, mart and Senior were appointed a
Veterinary Surgeon committee to meet with Mr. Leavitt,

A limited number of auto, batteries
stored and cared for this winter.
SNOW COVERS THE GROUND
The first frost of any account vis-
ited this section last week and, was
followed by a light snowfall on Fri-
day. The cold weather lids contin-
ued and the snow has remained with
us. On Tuesday night several inches
of snow fell and the first sleigh bells
of the season were heard on Wednes-
day. There are considerable. turnips
still in the fields,
HARD TIME SOCIAL
The members of Main St. Epworth
League were up against hard times
at their social evening on Tuesday.
The leaguers were dressei in lard
time costumes and penalties were im-
posed for wearing of Jewelry, silks
or other wearing apparel which. the
well dressed young peoples demand in
this age, A court of trial was held',
Messrs. Win, Ward. and G, blawson'
acting as judges. Numerous fines
were imposed. A splendid musical
and literary program was given by,
members of the league assisted by
Misses Lena Coates and Blanch Sen-
ior. Light refreshments consisting of
doughnuts and coffee were. served,
The proceeds amounted to $40 which
will be ati.dled •to the forward move-
ment contributions of the society.
