Remember I ;wrote a coupleof week's ago that United was back on the tracks .ry Well, don't look% now, on• tlook•- now, but I think we go'f de -railed somewhere along the line!! -We lost both 'A' and,:'B'games fast Weekend. ,On Saturday the 'A' team played the top , team. in 'the Second Division; . the Hungarians who proved • their position to be strong by whomping us 7-1... We were under a slight handicap because three of our "big guns" were. missing and believe it when I say they, were sorely missed! It was a combination •of our playing ' poorly • and the ` Hungarians •playing strongly and pressing: their advantage, that cost • us . thisgame: United had repeated opportunities .to score, but lost these chances because. (it seemed) no one was in centre'. field to receive' the passes and bring the ball. up,.:to.4the.,opr„i • position's net. • During this first half the Hungarians• zappedlin three goals ..and 'we ended this period with a 3-1 score. Did I forget to mention that goal 'for out side? How redundant. of. me! Well,,,t''was like this: the Hungarian goalie took' extreme pity on us and in'a wild fit of good will, tossed. 1 • • the •bail into his own net to show 'us he cared!! This”- made us uncomfortable .(charity usually does !) but not enough to score on our. own. .The second half was every bit as bad as the. first. We fumbled, we stumbled; we mumbled and we grumbled!! Still, nothing would take the curse off of us and each play' became progressively shakier until we were' manic in our •maneuvers. The teams both blew their cool, the fan's•threw-away their cool, and•. the referee never had any Cool!! It was altogether• one ofthe most, un= derwhelming and forgettable- games United's ever had the misfortune to • •participate in. ' It's. really a shame, because:most of the guys truly tried hard but the vibrations between them were off-balance.
