ROUND AND ABOUT WITH MARTHA
Have you ever wondered
what .happens. at some of.
these trailer. camps that have

.T haven't seen too `many,
but this. .weekend 1 met, up

T'his being a long -Weekend
and the last of the season, a

planned and the whole .Camp
turnsout, of course, for the
singing, eating and chatter:
The. corn was excellent:
Somehow it tasted So much
better since it had,the place of
• honor for the evening right
in the centre of the affair,
boiling merrily in the biggest
iron kettle. you've seen in
many years. (1 hear the kettle
was full of petunias and other
flowers earlier that day!) The
fare under the kettle ' was
beautiful. It lit up the whole
scene. • .
Folks had their lawn chairs
forming a huge circle three
• and four deep around the POT
and three - four - sometimes
more, gui.tar and banjo
players were the live wires.of
the circle keeping the singing
and; laughter at a great peak;
Stompin' Tom had nothing
on these fellows. How they
can, remember all the words
to so many ballads is beyond
me but of course they are
young and sharp. and enjoy
sharing their music with.
everyone.. "Country' • music
from the latest hits to the old
tear jerke -s was the theme
for the night -and' the night:
went on and merrily on.
The children had their own
circle, .with their own music,
a place to dance which they
did - and they.stayed away
from'ahe •grownup party in
droves. • .
I had no idea such a happy
camping grounds could be so,
close to home
I remember. many great
sing -songs ,of .years ago that
took only a nucleus of six

..
a crowd in a ver .short time.
Everyone knows an invitation
to a pleasant evening 'when
they hear one and you'd be
surprised to hear of the folks
who will walk a mile to be one
of such.a happy group..
What a shame 'so many
people think such parties are
just drinking parties. In my
estimation they are the ones

"No good harmony. was ever
