Cunningham, of Clandeboye, was ta- kelz to St. Joseph's hospital London, last week by Dr. Orme, of Lueau, where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. She is reported as doing nicely. The. Ilderton fruit growers are busy trying to handle the big crop of apples. Apples will probably be shipped at the rate of about two car- loads a week. To -day (Thursday), is Armistice Day, Fire in the third story of the Mer- chants Bank building at MViitchell, re- cently remodelled, caused slight dam- age at noon on Wednesday of last week, principally as a result of smoke and water. Thesecond floor is oc- cupied by Manager Lewthwait's fam- ily and the upper story as a storage and playroom. The originof the fire is unknown. The Grand. Trunk passenger sta- tion and freight house was totally destroyed by fire about one o'clock on Wednesday afternoon last , to- gether with contents, which included a quantity .of freight and express goods, and books and papers in the office. The loss is about $10,000. This is the third station destroyed by fire at New Hamburg in 12 years.
