that rheumatoid arthritis

comb her hair or feed herself.
:And the, patient may suffer
intense and persistent pain:
While the onset of rheumatoid
arthritis may be sudden it
usually, develops slowly.
Women are affected about
three times as'frequently as

the point where, today, with
early diagnosis `and modern
treatment, serious disability
duet to arthritis can be
prevented in four out of five
cases.
To accelerate .the attack on
arthritis, the Arthritis Society'
urgently needs increased
support of its research
program - research which has
made possible a network ,of
Rheumatic °Disease Units
across. Canada similar to the
one at University Hospital in
London. It has resulted in a
core of trained' investigators

research projects which hold
promise of , the discovery of
the causes and a cure for
arthritis.
