Come in early for the 11* best selection, 11; 'MatttreI'Street and be',.Square, ;Goderich' idulum Players nd performances BY: ROB SHR-IER Do the Pendulum, Players still, exist -7 Because of the occurrences' of the past' few weeks. this has become a valid question in the minds,of aniatear theatre -goers Goderich. ' , Last weekthere were no productions at the jail, a rare occasion in Goderich in the summer. However, two plays in a variety show format, earlier presentedat the jail., took place at Point Farms Provincial Park last weekend. Rob"Bundy;•_ youthful "leader"' of the group, says .the reason for the lack of a show at the jail last week was the lack of support shownby the town for the •players. In an attempt to have some worthwhile venue for their productions, Rob Bundy and Phil' Main, co-stars in, "Babel Rap", went to park officials and asked if there was a chance of performing at the park. Thepark ,was glad to have them, and their first production, simply of "Babael Rap" got great.,response, far, more than it got on opening night for the Players at the Huron Historic Gaol. .Seeing that The Pendulum Players were not getting the support .they Heeded, Rob had no .alternative but to discontinue jail productions.. At this time two other people came on the scene, Paul O-93rien„and Kelly Suchard•; both of. Goderich. They combined. their ,play, "I Am Herbert": with "Babael ;Rap", ;threw in. some magic and singing,. -and took the package to Point Farms last weekend. fibre is where the confusion starts. Even thoilgh there are two plays in the' program, to be shown at the pai k on long .weekends; and both have been.presented at'the jail earlier, there are only four people in the group, and Rob. feels that.-thegroups.not realLy;`The2Pentiulum= Play..ers anymore m`. The amount of work:that goes into a .Pendulum Players' production is far too great to make jail shows worthwhile for the 20or so people who see the plays. Because so few people , volunteer their services ,as actors or directors; the cast must be kept to a minimum: The largest cast yet "this year appeared in "Still Stands the House". There were four people:. An average' of five -people are involved in each play Castings must•be held by the director; who first chooses a play to direct, and rehearsals' are started. Each play requires about eight rehearsals averaging two hours each. All told, about 50'man-hours go into each -20 minute to half-hour production: "` The Pendulum Players feel they had a quality product to present to . the community; Something the entire family could enjoy. Because- of the town's lack of sup- port, if has losta valuable asset. • C1scan W PATTERNS butterscotch - -cinnamon Snowdon These exciting new patterns have'just'arrived.
