Toronto. She was one of 2Q
boys and girls from, across
the province wbo'successfully
applied to become a 'page in
the thIrd session •'of ,the
thirtieth Parliament of the
Ontario Legislature.

Province,".says 13: -year old
Anita in explaining why he
;applied to serve.
Page S have served in the
Legislature since the mid -
1800's butit was.not.until 1971,
on- the initiative of 'Premier'
William Davis that girls.were
given the opportunity to
•serve. ••

Anita's duties as a page
includeddistributing
sessional documents to the
Members of- the Legislature.
and 'running errands for
them. :
The pages work a -full day
from 9 a.rn. to.6-pm. and one
night a week they are
required to stay until l030
.m. when the House .
jourris •for •the day. .,For the
night duty they, receive $3.75
in addition totheir daily wage
of $7.50

Wingharn Hospital on Friday,
having spent five Months in
hospitals in Kincardine,'
Owen Soimd, London and
Wingharn after a fall at her
•home in December when •she
fractured • her ankle- and •

The funeral for Mr. W.J..
MacKenzie of Glamis was
held Tuesday with burial in
Lochaisti • cemetery. .
Relatives of Mr. MacKenzie
lived at one time on the
former Henry Barkw ell farm.
