hundreds of proposals and the
MP's have been deluged,with
calls, she continued. "But
we're still n.ot. • getting
anywhere. No one seems to
have any concrete answers.
"But 'the government. can
do something. They can set
up one pool and one price.".
Mrs. Burt said much of, the
impact of the protest is -being
diluted by the fact few far-
mers feel they can affordto
take a day Off.
But that's the dumbest
thing' theycan do, she said.
"We stand to lose a lot more
than on day unless
something is done. They seem
to be just sitting back and
hoping, the OMMB will save
them.: But it.„isn't going to
happen. It's a.false hope.”

proposals -as the board itself
did not plan on meeting until
May 26. '
We were told the board
members needed. time to.
work on their -own farms, "
Mrs.. Burt. said: "But what
about the rest of us?"
The . three also met' with
representatives from the
office of William . Newman,
Minister of Agriculture and
Food . and. representatives
from the. Canadian Dairy
Commission. They say they
received few answers • there
either.
-Mrs. Burt's sentiments
were endorsed by Mr. De
Beyer who also said little had
been accomplished. Both
expressed fear that the
protest against cutbacks was
beginning :a to . lose a lot .of
momentum:
"Where are' these. farmers
. who are being caught in the
squeeze?" said Mrs.' Burt.'
"They all must be out com- •
plaining over the back fen-
ce." .
She said she.had received a
Visit from an elderly farmer
who had been put out of the
dairy business twice. He gave
the a lot of moral support and
a $5 donation, said Mrs. Burt.
"But it's not. the money I'm
interested in.- It's . support I
need."
The OMMB has'been given
proposals from the. com-
mittee of three, as well as
'individual proposals from
Mr. Woestenak' and Mr, De
Beyer. In addition they have
• recjjeived proposals from the
Ontario Federation of
Agriculture, . the National
Farmers .Union and the
Christian FarmersFederation.
—However, because many of
the board members ship fluid
.milk thenigelves, Mrs. Burt
feels they are not as receptive
to the problems of indiistri'al
producers as they might be.
She said the dairy crisis
was in part brought on by
fluid shippers who "dumped a
lot of their surplus milk on the
industrial market."
A 15 per cent cutback to a
farmer;.who ships 30 per cent
industrial: and 70 per ',cent
fluid, for example, is not the.
same' thing as a cutback to
someone who ships Only in-
dustrial milk., she said. "1 feel
