MODRIS JANSONS eception at home • • Spring flowers set the decor for the May1 wedding:'in St. George's Anglican Church, Goderich when the Rev. William Craven presided at the double -ring wedding ceremony for Constance Mary Bell and Modris Jansons. • • The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.W..Bell, .Goderich. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. • Auseklis Jansons, Toronto. • The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore an ivory jersey wedging gown on simple, stylish lines. Her wedding. veil of net and lace was worts `first by' her, great grandmother and then by her mother. The original. wax .flowers in the headdress were. augmented .with new fabric forget -me -pots acid 'gypsophila. She • 'carried spring colored Mums, iris, gerbera and ivy.. •. The'arnaid of honor was Marion Bell, sister of the bride, Goderich; She.wore a pale blue printed satin gown in a delicate pattern styled with,a fitted' waist, half belt at. back and 'a flared skirt. The long sleeves were full nt.the bottom and gathered into :bands at t'he`•wtists. Her•' flowers were like the bride's .bouquet, exceptin more subtle shades of•white and yellow: • Bridesmaids, were Mss4,41Pons, sister.;of.Lthe. grown, Toronto,` and Miss Sarah Willis, cousin. of the, bride, Bath, New York:: Their gowns were similar to the gown worn by the maid of honor except in a solid shade of blue. `Their bouquets were slightly smaller than the, bouquet carried by. the maid of honor, and were in shades of white and yellow. -All the flowers for the wedding were arranged by Jean McKee'of B'en'miher. The groomsman was Ross Pittman, Montreal. The ushers were Douglas Anderson, Toronto and Mitchell •. Moore, Toronto. • Forsythia, red tulips and daffodilsgraced the Bell home for the wedding reception. The brid'e's mother received her guests in a pale green jersey .A-line floor= length gown with long sleeves. She wore a corsage of yellow mums. The groom's mother selected .a -yellow ` print A-line jersey gown with long sleeves and a. corsage of bronze maims. . For travelling to Freeport, Bahamas, the,bride donned a red and white striped towel -necked street -length jersey . dress with matching accessories and an off-white spring coat. Mr. and Mrs. Jansons are residing in Kingston where they will attending teachers_' college. Wedding guests were present from Cleveland, Ohio; Bath, New York; Toronto, Montreal and Sutton West. Prior to her marriage, the bride was the,guest of honor • at showers' given by: Amanda Jansons and'Skye Terauds m Toronto, and by friends from Guelph University. •.. Saturday, May 1 the Goderich ', Ladies Legion t uxiliarg hosted an invitation bowling tournament which' was :attended by 27 teams - Iron) variqus Auxilaries. There were prizes awarded to the "top nine teams: Marg. :Knight team. Stratford; Doe Queen'.- teal Goderich ;, Freida' Calcutt;--.. team SStratkitoy; Freida , Qauiey team Owen Sound; Sherry Atkins: team Kincardine; _Greta; Philips team Stratford; Delores,Dixon team Petrolia;, Jenny Thomas team Woodstock; and the-Worinetta Holland: team of Clinton: High single went to Lawrie Glazier of Goderich with a 365: `Runner up for this was Helen Webb .of Goderich with 269. . High triple was won by Marg Henning' of Stratford with a $79 and Jean Nage of Kincardine was runnerup for this with 770. Bowling the Goderich :• Branch . No. 109 were Dianne Brown of Seaforth and 'Vi George of Goderich. The. Ladies Auxiliary is very grateful . to the town merchants : who donated the prizes for this event. In other happenings of the Auxiliary at the May 4 'Zone Rally held, in Clinton Mrs. Peg Coombs of Seaforth was elected -as'' -the ' new Zone: Commander for C-1 district. Yearlyreports were read by the•recbrding secretaries allowing each Auxiliaryto see how much.work was done. The •money made and the different ways of raising -it. The recreation director:.Mr. Powell , from, Westminster Hospital; London, spoke and thanked all Auxiliaries for their, yearly assistance.: He requested map aid With morithlybirthday parties and. encouraged those' Auxiliaries who do not have adapted Vets to do . so as' they are very ;appreciative and this par- icicular . project is quite 'a-ewerding.;, a At the May 1.lth meeting Mrs. Lucienne Oram arid 'MISS—` Elaine ''Ease" were initiated. In business a payment was ,made towards the new' building, a • donation was made to the Red Shield .and banquets were discussed. - Mrs. - Marg Young,: co.rresnondingsecretary advised that•4,the .Salvation. Army would enjoy having the L.A. members as guests' in -their congregation June 6 in recognition of D -Day. District Deputy President, Mrs. Irene Harnack, Veteran's.' Jewels were presented ' to six ,members. To Mrs. • Ila . Oke, escorted by, Mrs. Elsie =Moore -a 20 - year jewel; to Mrs. Helen ''. DESSERT CARD PARTY A very successful dessert card party was held by Goderich Rebekah Lodge on May 12th in the Canadian s Legion Hall, ,with : a good attendance. •- •500 and Euchre were played In 500 first prize wa-s won by Mrs. Jack Jerry and low prize by Miss Lori Oram. Pro Life_ movement, in Canada and locally, and why" it should - be ' a concern of society. ' The Goderich and District Pro Life group become in- corporated in 1974 and is a Canadian charitable organization: It- is non- sectarian and non-profit and is . made up of ministers, priests, professionals and lay people. •''-" The Goderich group, takes' in an area from Lucknow• to , Seaforth' and. has .a mem- bership of 250. Across Canada the membership is 600;000 and the co-ordinating body is Alliance ,. for Life . with headquarters in Toronto.
