If there is anenergy of the
future, it is solar: power --
direct and indirect. It' is
unlimited, safe, clean and
free. Ifwe Want to help India
and Pakistan, we should give
- them, the_technology to use'
the' sunlight . that shines. so
.bountifully on their . lands.
Solar power can't be used in..
the arms race; . it doesn't:
require national secrecy, or a
military-industrial • car:
poration, to develop it. And,
as Barry ''Com•rnoner says,
"every one of its techniques
has already been demon-
strated." Government's
"Alternative Energy Show",.
in September 1974. The 'use of
solar power isnot limited to
hot, sunny places. '
As Ralph Nader once said,
"if the petroleum companies
could get a lease on the sun,
and a depreciation allowance,
we'd have been using solar
power long ago."
