To obtain a high school
diploma it is necessary fore a
student to obtain 27 .credits;
The average tech student
who l]5i gresses in- a ngrmai-
manner through the four shop
areas thus can obtain seven of
these credits in tech, .. and
even, in the case of a student
taking a two areashop in his
fourth , year, expand 'This
number t nine credits. From•
these figures it fs apparent
that the technical wing ..has
become an important "core"
subject for many students at
Goderich Collegiate.
It is a regretable fact that
the technical . wing . • is '.
dominated by male students.
One would think that in these
days =of women's- liberation—..
movements that this
traditionally finale oriented
preference for technical
subjects would have been
invaded by .an' influx • of
female students:
In t1i history of Goderich
technical area only one
female student has completed
a four year course. The major.
reason fbr'the lack .of -female
students is the restriction of
shop facilities and the targe,
number of.. male applicants
