affect on •the countryside
surrounding Goderich. The
disappearance of the snow ,

The now +emoval 'also un-

Goderich town clerk Harold
' Walls° said that the - town
•bylaw officer Dick Eisler is
respensible for making_ sure
garbage is not •allowed to
.gather. He said the town
- passed a byfaw in 1971 'that
' prohibits the placing or
dumping of garbage on high-
ways or any other lands in:the,
town of Goderich.' The bylaw
• is backed witha $300 fine and

enforced it has been suc-
cessful in getting the garbage,
cleaned up.
• Mr. Walls said he merely
sends offenders a copy of the
bylaw outlining the potential -

charge is laid. He said he, like
the ministry of environment
officer, relies • on the public
reporting the garbage 'heaps
to the proper authority. ,
• Every municipality has a
different • method •of
preventing sthe 'collection of
garbage in any one place but
all the la.ws are pointless
• without the assistance of the
• public. The public is needed
• to report any offenders of
littering bylaws Or to report
unsightly garbage piles but
most of pll they are needed to
co-opd-ate with their fallow
