HYDRO POWER BEING TAXED TO CAPACITY Ice trouble at the power plant caused by the severe cold weather of last week, together with the over- lapping of commercial and domestic users of hydro, have created a ser- ious strain upon the hydro system. The demands of the winter season come heavy upon the hydro power. The ice on the river above the hydro plant retards the normal fall of wat- er. Coupled with this is the increas- ing use of electrical appliances stoves, heaters, etc. And in addition with the shortening or the hours of daylight comes the overlapping of the day and night loads between the hours of 4.30 and 6 p. m, which has the effect of sendign the peak load for power to the maximum of power distribution for the system. In view of this demand the local com- mission were asked to reduce the consumption by twenty per cent of the installed load during the restrict- ed hours five to' six o'clock. When the severe frosty weather was on the Commission were again asked to reduce fifteen per cent during the whole time. Some of the local users have been handicapped by the orders of the commission. Users of the current are asked to economize es- pecially during the hours between daylight and dark. GUENTEER HQOPER A quiet but',`very pretty wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.
